man, with our discussions only revolving around white, browning and rosen, i hadn't even paid attention to waller. that boy is good.

saw him live every chance I was back home in the OC.

I would rather have him than anyone else who is available.

Hopefully he will look at academics, choose Cal, and give RichRod the finger.

...possible to have two quarterbacks from the Trinity League? One from Mater Dei (Forrest) and another possible one from Servite (Waller)? Rival schools? Who would have guessed? That would be great news. Both solid, competitive programs that compete each year for state.

I was at the game where they played head to head and I thought Waller had much more upside. Lockett (at SC now) basically took over the game...That said, you never know how Chase will develop and wish him all the luck in the world now that he is a Bear.

I don't care about who we DON'T get. Only care about who we get in February and then how they do over the next 4 to 5 years. Not worried about not getting White. But Cal needs to take a QB in this class, and I'd be stunned if they don't. I really like Rubenzer as a prospect, but that is what he is. I'm not sure where people are getting this sure thing status with him. No one is a sure thing.

Boehm is not a viable every down QB and it doesn't appear he will become one. That leaves you with Goff, and two unproven guys in Rubenzer, and Forrest after next year. That is not enough.

I'm always hesitant when a player comes in as 2-stars or "under the radar" having played a prominently role at a well-known football school. Much like Kaelin Clay from LBP being deemed "underrated and under the radar" and not really panning out I have reservations about Forrest.

Bottom line is that there's no way he was really overlooked having played QB at Mater Dei so while he certainly still could develop that would be a pleasant surprise rather than anything I expect.

I think a decent percentage (though, not a majority, by any means) of Cal and ASU women are potentially on the same hotness level, but the ASU ones are making more of an effort to look hot.

This is totally not my thing, personally: If a woman seems to be trying too hard, especially towards the bimbo end of the spectrum, if you know what I mean, I take away points. If a woman is attractive seemingly without effort, I add points. I am always surprised to find out how many guys actually go for the blond-tits-emphasized-lotsa-makeup-CFM-shoes look, which is actually a turnoff for me.

Full disclosure: My wife is an Arizona State grad.

Looks like we offered two QBs today one for 2015 and one for 2016.

With Goff it doesnt matter who comes in at QB, because he is going to set records the next 3 years.

We need OL, DL, S, and everything else is gravy

And of course we all know that the starting QB never ever gets hurt.

Verbals are only as good as the paper they're written on, as the saying goes. If he does end up there, though, best of luck to him... when he's playing against Stanfurd and U$C.

Remember folks: It's who you DO get, not who you miss out on.

Brady White on his commitment to ASU: "I'm working on graduating early and with Taylor Kelly leaving next year, I'll have a chance to compete with the other guys on the roster."

White was not coming here regardless of what you think of Cal's coaching staff. Goff is going to be here for another 2 years after this. Kelly is gone after this year.

Apparently ASU-Barrett Honor College sealed the deal.....

"To be honest, going into that first visit, that was my main question mark was how are their academics,” he said. “I had no idea they have the Barrett Honors College. When I got exposed to that, I met with Mark Jacobs, the dean, and I thought that was huge. That Barrett Honors College gives you the degree that can compete with those higher education schools.”

Dude, I wasn't even criticizing Dykes. Dykes will sign a QB. I was disagreeing with the notion that he won't or that we don't need to. I'm not going to criticize the coach's recruiting 9 months before LOI day.

And if I was to criticize Dykes, Maynard and Tedford would be irrelevant to the question. I don't understand why you keep trying to prop Dykes by comparing him to Tedford when:

1. Tedford's worst season was substantially better than Dykes only season (so yeah, if those are my only two choices, I'll take Tedford)
2. It is irrelevant to the question of whether Dykes is good enough.
3. Tedford was fired because his results were unacceptable. If you want Dykes to have the same fate, fine.

The thing I said from the beginning is if White didn't end up at Cal it would be a depth chart decision.

If the depth charts were reversed. pretty certain he'd be a Bear.

Not to mention that during the two years that Maynard started we did indeed recruit top ranked QBs in Kline and Goff. It's not like any recruits got scared off and thought they didn't have a chance to get a spot in Tedford's system.

MB, let me ask you head to head, how do Rubenzer and White compare. I know they are of different years, but what I have seen of Rubenzer, I would not care as much about the loss of White were Rubenzer rated better. My thinking is back up for Goff if injured, or if Goff leaves early.
GoCal1

In that case if Waller also ops for another team, then Cal should just use the schollie for a good OT and get a good recruited Walkon QB instead, or maybe a good JC QB?

Cal really needs to win a few games for recruits to start looking our way.

Eh who knows. There's actually a lot of pretty good QBs that are "2nd tier" just causes this year is ridiculous

They're two totally different quarterbacks.

I wouldn't pay any attention to Rubenzer's rating outside of his rating and performance at the Elite 11, where he performed very well and was rated in the top ten.

The only reason Rubenzer wasn't rated higher is because he's 5'11.5 and recruiting services can't get beyond projecting future potential limitations because of height.

When you win state championships, complete 72% of your career passes and set a national record, compile a crazy 63 td to 3 int td, run well and are tough and a good leader, you're a VERY good quarterback.

If Goff is lost next year for a decent amount of the season, the likelihood would be high of him taking over as a frosh.

One thing that gets lost in this is that all these guys have gone to competing PAC programs. So not only did we lose out on them but we may end up having to play against them.

Come on down Travis Waller! Brady White is a much safer option, but Waller's ceiling is ridiculous. Give him some time to develop and you could really have something.

Thanks MB. What I was worried about was, with the excitement on Rosen and then White, that we looked at Rubenzer as a 'tweener, such that he would hold bench between two very good QBs, and that was not my understanding when we recruited him. So any comparison in quality is helpful to know that we are backed up in case of ????

I had the sense, that if Goff did not have the years Pac 12 experience behind him that Rubenzer would be a threat right off the bat. Then, with this years recruitment I began losing that sense.

It wouldn't surprise me if Rubenzer won the starting job before Goff graduates. I think Rubenzer's running ability really opens up the possibilities of this offense, just like with spread option teams. Since Goff doesn't run much, unless he significantly improves on his deep ball, there's no other dimension to the offense besides the short passing game.
