It's impressive there are still people who care enough to bitch.

i'm still rooting for Dykes to win NOW. this program has already been set far back enough; i don't want to "rebuild" for another 5 years if another staff takes over.
my only hope is that if Dykes fails, Sandy leaves as well. but knowing Cal, Dykes will get too much time, and Sandy is untouchable as long as APR and Olympic sports are fine.

No I am doing the :headbang man this guy is so desperate to complain about something... Anything. What a dick this guy must be.

actually im pretty nice guy in person but i cant say that i quite understand blind faith in our coaching staff. ill compliment them if theyre doing a good job and ill say that i think that the staff is full of it if i think they are. they seem to do some things well, like finding watson, rubenzer and now powell, but then like i said, he says some off the wall stuff that sort of makes me go WTF. i can accept it, if he does his job. thats more important anyway

I apologize the dick comment was not appropriate and really makes me more of a dick for saying so. I don't have blind faith, but I don't think stating facts are making excuses. We were insanely young last year especially because of the injuries... We are going to be less young, but still very young this year. I believe we will improve to win 3-6 games max if we stay healthy. That isn't blind faith. That is simple math of if our best players are healthy and playing with more experience we should be better.

From ESPN piece today:
"[In the fall] we're going to have only four players [who] have been in the program for four or five years," he said. "We're dealing with some staggeringly low numbers of upperclassmen. Without guys that have played a lot of football, there is going to be some growing to do.
Last year, unprompted at the beginning of the season, he kept citing some Phil Steele stat about how young the team was.
Just not buying this guy at all...Please stop whining and win football games.
beeasyed;842316504 said:
the fact that you think Kragen isn't going to play more than 3 downs a game is a joke.
you think our defense is going to be pass rush every down with Scarlett and Sina? a guy who's been out 2 seasons, and another guy out from a critical knee injury?
also: who do you think recruited Kragen??? :rollinglaugh:
FrankBear21;842316589 said:
Scarlett, Sina, Barr, Johnson, Lopa, Davis are all DEs. Sina, Lopa, and Johnson all play on the same side as Kragen and are all better IMO. I can see how he wouldn't see the field much.
Davidson;842316393 said:
^ pretty much.
also for the length of that statement.
too long, he's rambling
too short, he's coach speaking
Hail2Calif;842316593 said:
lol - so true! If Dykes goes 1-11 and cannot prove he can win in the PAC12, then it doesn't matter what he says, it will be the wrong thing.
socaliganbear;842316494 said:
I wouldn't support firing Sonny until Sandy is gone.
SmellinRoses;842316592 said:
Good point. Dykes himself is part of the reason we have fewer upper classmen.

Sandy is doing a great job. What are you looking for, a quasi-Mark Jackson scenario where she is doing a great job but some fans do not like her, ergo, get rid of her? LOL
Whatever folks perceive that she has done wrong, well, she has remedied those perceived situations and things are on the upswing, so she is getting the job done.

"I'm more sold on Cal today than I was a year ago," he said from his office this week. "I think it's a great university. The people are passionate about it, they're supportive. We have the resources that we need. We just have to provide a good product, and people will come and get behind it."
beeasyed;842316591 said:
like i said before: they're all pass rushers. good at bullrushing the QB; not so good when QB hands the ball off.

You simply make a judgement based on your lack of inner peace with a 1-11 season and levy blame with no material basis for calling him out.

Dude, you don't know how many of those 15 guys would or wouldn't have been helpful towards the relative success of the team.
CALiforniALUM said:
The reason why Dykes gets the benefit of the doubt is that he KNOWS the real story why players left.
FrankBear21;842316618 said:
And Kragen is? I can probably push Kragen flat on his behind while run blocking.

Winning turns everything into gold. For the first 2 years at Furd, Harbaugh was a blathering idiot. For the last few years a Furd when he started to win, Harbaugh was this Rain Man like genius. Now he's winning at SF and he's an all-timer.
GoBears58;842316645 said:
Harbaugh won more than 1 game his first year. So did Mora and Graham.
This was a botched hire from the start.

folks know that she has done wrong, well, she has not corrected those perceived situations and things are still in the toilet, so she has failed.
fify.
To say she is getting the job done is akin to believing the Japanese revisionist textbooks on WW2.
At just about any other Pac12 school she would have lost her job by now.
Bobodeluxe;842316652 said:
The experts here loved the Harbaugh hire. Stanford would never win.
bollocks
Dykes had more success on a bigger stage, plus PAC 10 experience.
LA Tech??? Seriously???
The team sucked last year. I believe it would have sucked with any coaches.
With someone like Graham at the helm?? Who had to rebuild too?? Fark No
We will see.

looking over the spring depth chart, theres 35 players out of 65 players by my count are upperclassmen. the 65 are players that are likely to receive playing time throughout the season and of that 35 of them are juniors or seniors.
that would be taking into account leaving off some walk-ons like webb that are very unlikely to get playing time and i left off Jalil because of his injuries. i dont think we are a young football team
just looking at starters 3 of 5 starters on the o-line are upperclassmen. lasco, gingold, davis, anderson, treggs. on offense in our spread formation without gingold its 7 of 11 starters are upperclassmen and thats leaving off chris harper.
defense:
scarlett, wilfly, kragen, espitia, jefferson, sebastian, lowe
so 7 of 11 starters are upperclassmen again
i dont know what to say if you think we are young
