What a great game by the Valkyries today!!

Charmin was in-studio with Larry Beil after the game, so she missed being at Chase to see the blowout.

Her opening comments: "This was a statement game for the Valkyries. Our day, our game."

Charmin was very good at addressing Larry Beil's questions and gave detailed answers and a "coaching perspective" to various plays, defensive schemes, turnovers, etc.

She looked very comfortable being on TV and sharing the stage with Larry Beil. He even told her that she was now their "go-to analyst for WNBA games".

They had a segment where Charmin got to talk about Cal WBB and various players...Lulu, incoming freshman Puff Morris and incoming transfers Sakima and Mjracle. "Lulu is a shooter and Puff is a winner." "I expect her (Puff) to help us win". "Sakima (from South Carolina) will show us what she has". "Mjracle (from LSU) is a defensive specialist". Portal transfers will be key parts of this team and not just back-ups like they were on their previous teams.

Charmin was fantastic on tv, and wow… how about those Valkyries! I ended up going to the Giants game yesterday, and it did not disappoint...a walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, all under perfect Bay Area skies. A great day for the Bay!

Another Valks win, 89-81 in overtime, at Los Angeles.

Nakase is a really good coach. She may have had a lot more to do with Las Vegas' success than we throught.

I agree about Nakase.

She obviously has the ability to get a group to buy in to hustle, toughness, and rebounding. Small sample size sure, but every time I watch all I see is the Valks getting deflections, flashing help into passing lanes to prevent the pass, lots of fast hands for tie ups, winning more of the 50-50 balls than losing, and the rebounding effort is really good. This is a great place to start because we have already seen a few games where the opponent won't or can't match the intensity.

And now I have bought in lol.

While Leite had trouble with distance shots last night, I still love her game and she is so young (19 or 20?). I continue to be surprised by her quickness and ball handling to turn the corner and get downhill, FAST. I saw a great little tear drop floater over the bigs and a few great passes to open shooters or cutters, and there are other times where she just blows past erybody and takes it to the rack. She makes mistakes defensively and as mentioned she needs to work on consistency shooting the 3, but again she is very young and I hope she develops, she could be a problem if she does so.

Oh also, love the FIRE in Burton. It's like she has something to prove and is fighting at every turn. Her edge helps make up for deficiencies she may have. I guess I just love the heart or the dawg in her.

free agency will be very interesting this offseason. GS should be an attractive destination.

Remember Leite only just turned 21 in April...she's still very young. I'm looking forward to her building a bit more muscle to survive the physicality of the league too.....she so quick, but man does she fly around and land on the court a lot.

Really love this team...so fun to watch and Chase is just crazy fun.

Because of EuroBasket commitments, the Valkyries have lost at least 4 players temporarily. So, today they signed free agent guard Aerial Powers. She was with Atlanta last season.

inputting some Cal hoops into this "OT" discussion

Our very own Jaelyn Brown was in the social media star limelight for a moment as she was called for a blocking foul against a player who literally too five or six steps as she charged full speed into the lane

And they do it again! Wow the hustle train keeps on rolling. 3 in row.

Thornton is becoming a beast.

***benle, what can I say. How the heck did the Fever leave her unprotected after that season she had last year with Clark? She is incredible.

My girl Leite just continues to get downhill on people. Still lots to work on, but I loved hearing during the broadcast the she has to be pried away from the court after practice and that nobody out works her. Perfect.

I'm pretty sure Burtons hands are in the passing lanes on every play. So many deflections and turnovers.

Today, the Valkyries brought back guard Kaitlyn Chen and signed forward Chloe Bibby to help the team while players are away for EuroBasket. They also don't have Tiffany Hayes available as she is still dealing with that nose injury.

Time to brag: While we were visiting family in Brooklyn, my sweet stepdaughter took BearBloke and me to see the Liberty destroy the Chicago Sky. (Said stepdaughter is a passionate Liberty fan.) A messy game, although Reese was her usual calm and capable self for Chicago.
