yeah a couple of underscores on Floor. But LSU was lights out and crossed that 198 threshold. In order for Cal to win they will have bring it and shoot for that 198.

Damn anyway Memorial Stadium can broadcast the National meet? 1 p.m. We are gonna go to the Cal football Spring showcase at 2:30. Ugh.

If you not watching Session 2 ...Oklahoma had some mishaps with the vault. They had 3 falls?

Eliminate the Sooners!!!! After the 2 rotations they are in third place.

If the Sooners don't make it ...the Natty is totally attainable!!!

Another fall for the Sooners ...on beam. They gonna have to be close to perfect and other teams have to fall.

A second fall. Oklahoma will be eliminated!!!

A second beam fall by Oklahoma! They are likely not advancing

You are right ...Florida or Utah could have mishaps and open the door for the Sooners. But highly unlikely.

Bama had a bunch of miscues in the first two rotation so they not a factor either.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah (bars) and Florida (beam) just need to avoid multiple falls. A 49 will get them through.
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Florida had a bad fall on beam but wont have to count. 49.475 without it
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah finishes strong on bats and wins the night
And saturday is wide open!
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So final four of LSU (only team over 198) then Utah Florida and Cal.

Undefeated season and eliminated ...what a shocker! Feel bad for the Sooners

Neither Utah or Florida crack the 198 ... Really wide open competition on Saturday

Frazier and Lauzon hit. Perrea uncharacteritically wobbles. 49.475 total.
LSU crushing floor as usual. 49.6125
Utah har great bars 49.4375

It is on!

Cal to Floor. Everyone is capable of 9.9. Go Bears!
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
First two floor scores ok but will have to count a 9.8625
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh no. Mayhew fell on floor. Going to need huge from Li Lauzon and Frazier as vault is next
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah matches Cal's beam score.
Lauzon gets 9.9125
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Frazier with 9.9125. Any other meet would be excellent. But the total floor score 49.375 may be too low at this level. But Cal can put up big bars score. Just need good vault to stay close!
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah is in good position after two.
Note, several Cal vaults have 9.95 ceilings
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah is crushing floor through first three. All 9.9s
But Cal has three 9.9a on vault so far
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Florida with a fall on beam after a poor routine. Will have to count a 9.6625 and that may doom them
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Cal gets 49.500 which is 0.1 better than LSU. So may make up some ground given away on floor.
But Utah is making statements on floor.
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah leads after three but goes to vault.
Cal is close but is going have to be lights out on bars. I think something like 49.6. It is possible.
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh no. Lauzon with some errors to lead off.
But Utah first vault falls.
LSU on beam
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh my. Utah with another poor vault.
Cesario looked good nut 9.8875 may not be good enough
LSU had 9.95 on first bean but a fall on second.
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Li is 9.8875. But Cal needs 9.9s i am biased but think Cal is underscored
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
LSU is hitting and scoring. This is going to be tight
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Utah finishes with 49.300 on vault and 197.800
LSU however responds on beam with 49.7625 and 198.225 and champion
ncbears
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Cal finishes in second! 197.850. 49.500 on bars
Floor hurt the Bears but not sure that would have nade difference.

That beam score by LSU .... smh. Just amazing performance under intense pressure especially after the fall.
LSU earned that championship and the Bears have nothing to hang their heads about.
Sure, they could have done a bit better on floor and beam - but LSU's 49.7625 Beam and 49.6125 Floor were just so far ahead of everyone else.

Cal did have top team scores on vault and bars.

CONGRATS TO BEARS on an amazing year - best ever.

I think LSU would have still won if they had another poor beam performance but it gave Cal an opening

National Championship second place is a huge win. Congrats!

Thank you Bears for a remarkable season !!

Also, Frazier was top all-around today.

The LSU beam score was their top team score in their program history. To do that under all that pressure, including with a fall, is just - you have to give it up to them.

Huge accomplishment from a previous program best of SEVENTH.. to National runners up wow! So proud of this team .

Next year they may lose some big routines from Andi Li and Perea but they're getting British national champion and future Olympian, Ondine Achampong. One day better = national champions?

I watched the entire championship competition. Cal competed hard but LSU had a few more superstars. The floor exercise was the Bear's downfall today as they finished with the lowest score of the four teams on that event. LSU & Utah had five performers hit 9.9 score or better. Cal had two. Utah performed very well today, too.

The Bears should be tough to beat again next season. It was an enjoyable season with a national second place finish.
GO BEARS!

Thanks to NCBear for asking Knowlton about showing the meet at the Spring Showcase. Very cool scene! They rolled out that big TV screen and picture was outstanding. And inside the stadium they showed bits and pieces of the meet. At the end of the showcase, they acknowledged that Cal was National Runner Up which the whole crowd cheered. Just awesome support from the Cal admin and the Cal community.

This squad was special and did historic things. I really enjoyed this magical run. Time and time again they picked each other up when one of them falters. They are one of the few squads never to have a fall counted all season.

I'm gonna miss Andi Li and Gabby Perea. Both are outstanding Cal representatives and big time contributors. It will be sad not see Andi Li's lines and Gabby's beam dismount. But we are bringing back so many championship meet veterans. Add in talented youngsters already on the squad and ONDINE! The quest for the Natty will begin after the Paris Olympics when Ondine comes to Cal. She has deferred going to college a couple of years so she will be a mature experienced competitor to say the least.

I hope more Cal fans come support this squad. Go Bears!!!

We will have to start an Olympics watch gymnastics thread when the time comes.
