600 days into Russia's 3 day "special military operation," there's a new sniper record from one of those old guys fighting for Ukraine. The bullet took 9 seconds - pretty incredible feat.
"Incredible" is the operative word here... First you had the Ghost of Kiev, and now you have the super senior sniper breaking records. Perhaps the goal here is to try to raise morale by creating a older hero for the country that now has to rely on the oldest army in the world.

In other news, Russia has a sham election coming up so it's going to have the propaganda machine firing on all cylinders. ISW in with an interesting theory that they are allowing one Russian to criticize the war effort in order to give the veneer of a free country.
"Sham election" is better than no election at all, Zelensky's government has long banned all opposition parties, closed down his country's oldest church denomination,
and gulaged people like Gonzalo Lira, whose only crime was to post blogs critical of the Zelensky regime. Lira is being tortured in a Ukrainian hellhole, he has suffered severe beatings and in his early captivity,
"I was tortured in two of the four cells I was inby the other prisoners," Lira posted in a 25-tweet thread on Monday evening.
"I got a cracked rib in my first cell, but it wasn't too bad. The worst stretch was in my fourth cell. From 1 pm on June 21 until 7 pm the next day 30 hours" two inmates tortured him and at one point "used a toothpick to scratch the whites of my left eye, while asking me if I could still read if I had just one," Lira wrote.
Reportedly, one of the individuals involved in the torture of the 55-year-old blogger was supposedly rebuked for causing bruising on the blogger's chest, as the instructions had been to avoid leaving any visible marks."

For anyone interested in reading more about how little regard Putin has for his warfighters, here is yet another example. They place no value on Russian lives which is why they are so comfortable throwing wave after wave into pyrrhic battles.
The side that places no value on their soldiers' lives somehow just happens to have lost around 8 times fewer soldiers than the other side... Ukraine has been wasting its personnel in ill-fated suicidal frontal assaults, and now, having used up a lot of its youth, has to rely on women and older men, many of whom forcibly conscripted.
