Twitter used to be a place where false narratives were protected and promoted. Now it's a place where they're challenged and corrected.

It's easy to think Musk has botched everything if by "everything" you mean the old system of strict narrative control. But he meant to abolish… https://t.co/hbjyL2b352

What's the purpose of election officials attending conferences? Is there any legitimate purpose? What useful information could they possibly learn at these conferences when the only thing they need to know has been known for thousands of years, i.e. how to count. https://t.co/mSnZzoFOht

I used to criticize Okaydo for posting twitter links but I think it's become the best way to share current events type content. The embed feature on BI is great and it gives the poster an opportunity to share a snippet and a link to the source content. Obviously posters will differ in how they introduce and reflect on the content they share, but I think twitter posts are often the best content to share.DiabloWags said:sycasey said:I mean, it's mostly just okaydo.oski003 said:

The alternative (which I also use when I think it's best) is to post links to the original source and/or block quotes. The worst is when people vaguely reference something they read, but they don't provide a link and are often times just completely wrong. This is common with the, shall we say, more mature generation.
Tiktok links are annoying because there is no embed feature. If there were, I would be far more likely to view them or whatever but given that the links tell you nothing about the content I'm not about to go and click on them to get taken to some other website to view content that may or may not interest me.

The bots used to love Twitter but many of them left as well as 80% of Twitter's employees after Elon took over.

I don't have anything against Twitter embeds in and of themselves (I use them too), but it can become difficult to read a thread when it's nothing but a series of embeds that take forever to load (or crash your browser entirely). I criticized BearForce when he was doing it and there's not necessarily anything different about okaydo's thread that also crashes my mobile browser, other than the political lean.Unit2Sucks said:I used to criticize Okaydo for posting twitter links but I think it's become the best way to share current events type content. I complained about the Twitter links causing me problems, but I don't want people to stop posting them. I get to read about things I otherwise wouldn't see. Also, once we finished off the page from hell in the one thread, I was fine on the new page. I'll just have to be more judicious about which threads I read on my phone.sycasey said:I don't have anything against Twitter embeds in and of themselves (I use them too), but it can become difficult to read a thread when it's nothing but a series of embeds that take forever to load (or crash your browser entirely). But it's also pretty clear that the mods mostly aren't going to police the "personal Twitter feed" threads, so I've given up on complaining about that.

Yeah, it is much more up your alley for Musk to be dictating what we see on Twitter as opposed to government officials -- from both parties -- merely requesting certain content be removed. Especially when the dictator is the subject of this tweet:Today, Elon is going full mask off. He has:
