You either lack candor, or are delusional. I've had many liberals say they like most of Trump's policies, but not the drama / mean tweets. He's given hundreds of speeches nationwide, and the policies are thete for all to see, even if Democrats and Jared block them / water then down.

Peace Through Strength
No new wars
Fair trade with China (Jared blocked)
Fair trade w Europe
New excellent trade deal with Mexico and Canada, closing the China backdoor tariff-free imports into the USA
No to new NAFTA / Wall Street bills which gut middle America
Strong MAGA economy w LOW INFLATION
EU pays into NATO per their commitment
Energy independence, no to Paris Accord
Bring manufacturing home
Close Southern border to illegal immigration, Fentanyl, and human/ drug traffickers
Basic law and order
Major Infrastructure Bill (Democrats blocked)
Medical Freedom - right to Try
Improved health care (McCain blocked, same guy who was peddling the pee tape fraud to Congress, the State Dept, etc)
Opportunity Zones and HBCU funded for 10 years

There's just a brief MAGA list

You lack likeability.

You digress. This isn't likeability but policies. Several have claimed President Trump lacked policies, which I've refuted here.

Ironically, Miami Dade County booted out some crooks, as did the state, made a few changes, and now elections seem to run smooth... and to the Right.

False. You still seem confused, likely on purpose. Glamed out in thick makeup, high heels, a corset, wild eye lashes, boas, etc., is inappropriate for young children. Aren't there enough drag nights and parties to suffice their exhibitionist and validation needs?

Again, I wouldn't have Vegas Cocktail Waitress Reading Hour either.

Are you making things up again?

However this shakes out, it is not a red wave. Kind of unbelievable with a low polling President and high inflation that Republicans couldn't do better.

It's an intersection of secular and cyclical trend lines. GOP is losing voters each decade through death and extremism which is why it's so focused on voter suppression. Midterms always burn the in power party, and when you combine that with high inflation and economic uncertainty, it was a huge tailwind for the GOP. On the other hand, abortion and other unpopular GOP positions motivated democrats more than usual.

The biggest factor is the midterm bounce back, but anyone trying to write a story that this election bodes well for the future of the GOP is making up fairy tales. Trump will be a deeply unpopular candidate again and will continue to alienate people. The fact that he is under numerous investigations, some of which may result in indictments soon, is not going to help his cause with independents or the remaining rational GOPers. On the other hand, they are all powerless to stop him from running roughshod over other GOP candidates. Does anyone doubt that Trump can crush DeSantis?

We still need to see how the senate turns out (and it may not be known until the January runoff in GA), but we haven't seen anything to indicate that 2024 isn't shaping up fine for democrats. We should be through the recession and have interest rate tailwinds pushing the economy by then so Trump's messaging will have to be "it's not happening fast enough, I will take us back to 6% GDP growth" which he has already proven he can't do anything to generate.

Came by to visit how much folks here have progressed in their journey here. Not much has changed. And that is why I don't think much will change in our society. This board is a microcosm of America. Tribes arguing the same thing over and over again because their sense of identity and superiority is tied to their tribe being the superior tribe. It has nothing to do working together for a better tomorrow. It is about what we always fight about - just being superior to others based on political beliefs, skin color, economic class, beauty, etc.

This board is far from a microcosm of America though it may be emblematic of political debate in America. I agreed with much of the rest of your post.

Also inappropriate (to me at least) if they were brought into elementary schools to read books, etc. It would not be discrimination to keep them out, it would be using judgment to realize what's appropriate and best for children.

Wrong.

Because you are struggling

Quote:

YOU SAID - "The presence of a man dressed like a woman is no more sexual than the presence of a man dressed like a man"

I SAID - "Of course it is different. You see men dressed as men everywhere every day. You basically have to go searching to find a man dress like a woman, so inserting that intentionally into any environment - much less a school setting for young children - is more everything."
I said inserting a man in drag in the classroom is DIFFERENT than having a man dressed as a man in the classroom. I said you see men dressed as men everywhere. I NEVER said a man in drag is inappropriate everywhere,

Dems are doing way better than anticipated by many pundits and doing it with large margins in several races. It's going to be fascinating to understand the why.

The feeling you're expressing is your discomfort with something you are not used to. That is your problem. It is not the drag queen's problem and it is not a result of the drag queen's presence sexualizing anything.

It is also an argument for exposing children to drag queen's so when they are fully functioning adults they don't get queavy over the presence of a man dressed like a woman, like you do.

I don't know how the midterm elections are going to turn out. I get the impression the corporate media is pushing the narrative of a red wave. I don't know for sure because I don't look at much corporate media these days. It is clear to me that corporate media prefers Republican governance as most big business does.

There are also data points for Democratic Party overperformance. What does Democratic Party overperformance look like? Well, the 1st midterm of a new President is historically disastrous. This generally happens to both parties. The last two times the President's party gained seats in their first midterm election were 2002 (post 9/11) and 1934 (FDR coalition). Since World War II, the President's party has lost an average of 28 seats. Anything near a split Congress would be overperformance for the Democrats, historically speaking.

In 1991, I read a book called "Generations: A History to America's Future". It theorized a cycle to American history based on generational patterns. In 1991 this book predicted an American crisis sometime around 2020. I always found this book to be very compelling. Usually, the crisis is won by the younger generation imposing its will on the future of the country. This got me interested in the 1934 election (since it was pivotal in America's last crisis era) so I dug up and read a 1979 book called "The Creation of a Democratic Majority 1928 - 1936". That book showed how the FDR majority was the result of new voters (both younger and 2nd generation American that had not previously voted) and NOT the result of pre-existing voters changing sides. In other words, the FDR majority was the result of the younger generation defying the odds and the expectations and imposing its will on the future of the country.

One big difference between 2022 and 1934 is that older generations live longer and so have a bigger impact on the vote to prevent the future young Americans want to build for themselves. I don't know if 2022 will be a 1934 election. I certainly hope so but there are plenty of datapoints suggesting otherwise. Will be interesting to see what the young people do - I am rooting for them to live in the America they want for their future.

The young people of this country will establish the future they want for themselves and I couldn't be happier for them

Wrong. Believe it or not some people are actually able to hold beliefs for reasons, not fear and hatred.

Just because men have the right to dress as a women does not mean it is appropriate to put them in elementary schools.

If you chose to share your beliefs, I think you'd expose yourself to being ripped pretty good.

You said it had that queavy effect in "any environment ".

movielover said their presence was "sexualizing".

You have both made bad arguments that reflect your own issues, not issues of the drag queen community.
Okay, correction. Inserting a drag queen into any environment other than a drag show. Drag queens are not present in any other environment. Inserting them where they are not normally present is the point.

I was at a wedding a couple months ago in which a man dressed as a woman gave a speech for his brother, the groom. It was great. I don't know what your hang-up is but you should get over it.
That is wonderful.
The fact you cannot even concede that drag queens appearing generally in other location besides drag shows says a lot more about you than me.
How about we both agree to move on to the election, generally?

Fun back and forth
