Add another 30% to that labor cost with the payroll overhead.

Still it is possible to have competitive textile jobs in the US at the higher end, the way Italy does today. Jeans retailing over $100 can be manufactured in the US, $35 jeans from Walmart or Old Navy, not so much.

It's 13k posts so it may take a while.

Not to name drop here but one of my siblings worked at the same desk with Lutnicks brother at Cantor. I only found this out after blasting Howard recently in our family OT board thread. His brother died in 9/11 and shaped much of my brother's politics and even his kids. Runs deep. I promised to lay off of Howard but also noted some of the whack things the Secretary was out there with to which he replied "he's not an intellectual, he's a trader". Apparently he lost his parents early and Cantor took him under his wing. Needless to say my brother went to lots of funerals. But even my staunch Trump sibling admitted he (Howard) wasn't the brightest bulb.

note how the news guy is obviously confused because he's explaining why industries we want to protect and are of vital interest are excluded from the tariffs . Making this up as they go along it quite interesting
