The UK will now jettison numerous non-tariff barriers. This could help U.S. ethanol producers by $700 million and Ag and beef producers by another $250 million.

In return, UK sees tariffs on autos and steel reduced from 25% to 10%.

Its bizarre that Trump didnt eliminate the 10% baseline tariff entirely, given that the US runs a small trade SURPLUS with the UK.

Its also important to note that this "deal" only had to navigate the flat 10% tariff and not the "reciprocal" tariff ....AND YET IT STILL TOOK ONE-THIRD OF THE 90 DAYS BEFORE JULY 9TH.

And it hasn't been finalized.
Just words . . . and of course, the "stable" genius could always change his mind.

Republicans: Retailers should eat the tariffs and not pass the increases on to consumers.

Also Republicans: We can't increase corporate taxes because corporations will just pass the increases on to consumers.

If corporations are able to eat the tariffs, they are able to eat the taxes. The reality is that they won't eat either.

And Switzerland has ZERO tariffs on the United States.
Zero.

He's moving fast, not DC foot dragging.

We have a $1.2 Trillion trade deficit, and the EU has countless trade barriers, some in place since WWII. Some argue that the Marshall Plan construct is still essentially in effect, but I'm not deep in the weeds ferreting that out.

It's clear that the EU bureaucrats use delay and obfuscation to keep the game moving along, just like the DC bureaucracy. Play games until the Progressive Democrats come back into power, pay off their buddies, and move along. They promise to increase defense spending, and never did until President Trump rightfully lambasted them in term one. (Attorney Harmeet Dhillon in the Civil Rights Division has found the same delay tactics, has moved out over 100 Woke (some crying) attorneys, and is cutting away the nonsensical dead wood.)

The Autopen lost, and your buddy Gary Cohn is gone.

FTR, your daily name calling at those you disagree with appears pathological.

P.S. In 2019, the EU's game included not negotiating agriculture barriers, a major component of US trade.

"EU tariff and non-tariff barriers on pork limited U.S. pork exports to the second largest pork-consuming market in the world to less than 4,000 metric tons in 2017. The United States sends more pork to countries such as Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Singapore than it does to the EU. According to Iowa State University economist Dermot Hayes, opening the EU market to U.S. pork would result in billions of dollars in new exports to Europe."

We had a $236 Billion trade deficit with the EU last year.
We haven't had a surplus with the EU in its current make up since 1991.
Who cares?

You still haven't figured out why we have such a trade deficit.
