Epstein is a sick ****. He's dead, and I hope he rots in hell. Why are people so fixated on this, why is this still an issue?

Because the people that voted for Trump want TRANSPARENCY and people like Kash Patel and Pam Bondi and Dan Bongino who all hyped this case (and now are high-ranking officials in the Trump Administration) be held ACCOUNTABLE.

It may not be important to the "average" American.
But it sure is hell important to the MAGA BASE who voted for this Clown.

Or are you unable to comprehend that?

I can comprehend just fine, thank you very much. My question is because a) I do not follow this case at all, other than to know the basics about Epstein's criminality; and b) I am of the opinion that of all the things happening in the world this appears on its face to be about the least consequential matter possible for people to get all worked up about.

It's VERY important to his BASE given that Trump's people made a real BIG DEAL about this during the campaign.
Period.

I'm sorry to hear that the rape of teenage girls is, to you, so inconsequential. I suppose if you had a daughter who was raped you might think differently, or maybe not.

The though that in a capalistic society the winners can do whatever they want without consequence pisses off and disgusts plenty of people on both sides of the isles.

He was arrested, jailed and died in jail. Same for his handler, minus the death. What other consequence do you want or expect? I might have thought it obvious the fact there can be no additional consequence is exactly the reason this now inconsequential.

Confiscate all of his vast wealth, mansions, property, investments, and stock portfolio. Then assign financial and legal arbiters to divide the wealth among his proven victims. If victims can walk away w a house and a college fund for their children, that helps.

You're ignoring the dozens of other people that apparently also indulged in raping the teenage girls that Jeffery Epstein provided. I guess you think that it's not worth pursuing all the guilty parties and make them face justice.

You appear totally oblivious to the fact that Ghislaine Maxwell's case has been appealed to the Supreme Court.

Maxwell was convicted on 5 counts of child sex trafficking and sentenced to 20 years.
Epstein was sentenced to 18-months.

And given your logic, I guess we are supposed to let "everyone" else off the hook as well.
Because it's now deemed "inconsequential"?

This is not a good look by you.

And while we're on the topic of reading comprehension - and to your prior use of quotation marks around my use of the word inconsequential... the lists are inconsequential to the fate of Maxwell and Epstein. That should be obvious.

I am not sure why you are placing so much importance on Maxwell's SCOTUS appeal but I just looked it up, and it is safe to say Maxwell's SCOTUS appeal on its face appears is an extreme long shot: EPSTEIN entered into a non-prosecution agreement with the Florida US Attorney only but it should apply in NY and it should apply to Maxwell, even though Maxwell isn't a party to the agreement and the government didn't know of her crimes.

I largely feel the same way you do. I really DID NOT follow this case and could care less as San Diego is 3000+ miles from New York and I am not a big fan of gossip columns. (your point A)

But Politico this morning drew out an important point - that Vance, Bondi, Patel and others bang the Epstein drum really loudly between 2020 and 2024. Ditto Trump. They used it for whatever outrage was going on at the moment - including lots of wild leaps of logic and conjecture.

Then he gets relected. For about 2 months they continue to hype the **** out of this - confirm me for FBI Director and I will get to the bottom of this.

And now, in July, 180 degree U turn.

I actually defending Bondi yesterday because I am concerned that any disclosure is unlikely to adequately shield victims and I can not imagine them on the receiving end of MAGA. Makes the women that came forward in Kavanaugh look tame cause the far Maga are simply nuts with QNON crap. But that was before I came to understand how much in right wing nut cyberland she has been stoking the fires.

Honestly this can not go away. It is akin to having Oliver Stone be placed in the FBI and without consequence saying that it really was a lone gunman.

Dumb question - I thought they had done that. I read there were 100 to 200 victims compensated out of the compensation pool. Might need to be more. I am sure the lawyers and other middle people took way too large of slice for something they should have done fairly probono but there was a fund.

OK. So I don't think there is a clients list. I also think asking the AG to opine about the release of documents if the case is not chargeable is a bit outside her swim lane.

But......

"Public statements and podcast appearances: Patel, a former federal prosecutor, was a vocal figure in conservative media prior to joining the FBI and frequently called for the release of the full Epstein files. He claimed the federal government was withholding documents related to Epstein because of the powerful individuals allegedly involved, saying in a December 2023 podcast that the Biden administration was deliberately suppressing information due to "who's on that list"."

It just is bad form to say the above and then turn around and say "my bad.". Now most of us assumed that Patel is lying but if CBS can be accused of "election interference" by making (IMHO) a minor edit what about the current FBI director CLEARLY talking out of his ass to go after Biden.????
