Based on the descriptions I read here it sounds like the idiots are the officials

I would tend to agree.

I've been to hundreds of high school and college track meets in my lifetime and at the high school level, there always seems to be a "blue-haired" official exerting his interpretation of the rule book at the most inopportune times, which really makes you wonder if they have the best interests of the athlete in mind.

I've seen countless athletes DQ'd for jewelry violations in League and Section Championship Meets that take them out of the running for heading to State.

One day at Pittsburg High, I saw the son of legendary DLS Coach Bob Ladouceur (151 consecutive wins from 1992 - 2004) DQ'd in the 300m hurdles for swearing at himself well after he came across the finish line.

Unsportsmanlike conduct.

The use of fire extinguishers as a celebration prop is totally out of line, and potentially dangerous. Poor judgment by her father. Greene set a bad example for high school kids and their families and this was the result.

Good for her that she's only a sophomore, she gets two more chances at redemption.

So the officials have a track record (no pun intended) of being old school rules sticklers, not racists.

DQ for swearing?
What do they do with the couple shagging underneath the bleachers, or in the equipment shed?

If a competitor at the state championships is caught shagging underneath the bleachers or discharging a fire extinguisher after an event, they will also be disqualified from competition.

My buddy was a really good high jumper.
The high jumping pads were kept in a shed, and his girlfriend was hot.

I'd rather be DQ'd for that than the fire extinguisher.

Brooklyn Anderson, of Thurston, Ore., won the 100-meter hurdles in style at the state track and field championships in Eugene on Saturday, May 31.

"All I remember is resorting back to my gymnastics career," the athlete said.

All of which meant Anderson tucked and rolled upon hitting the ground and executed two perfect somersaults that carried her over the finish line.

"I wasn't sure how far back everybody else was behind me, so I just knew to just keep rolling," she said.

And while she didn't set a PR, Anderson finished the race with an impressive 14.93 seconds to win the 5A state title.

Anderson's feat didn't end there she also placed third in the long jump and third in the 100m open at the meet.

But nothing topped the reaction of the crowd, she told the news station.

"I was just so proud, just very, very happy," she said. "Nobody's ever cheered for me that loud before."

High school athlete Brooklyn Anderson was running hurdles in a track and field championship in Eugene, Oregon and seconds away from the finish line, she tripped.

Video from the event shows Anderson hopping a hurdle and knocking it down before tripping. The track star's tumbling reflex kicked in, prompting her to somersault twice until she got over the finish line, "sticking the landing" to first place.

Anderson told The Oregonian that she relied on her gymnastics training at the Saturday event.

"I wasn't sure how far back everybody else was behind me, so I knew to just keep rolling, to keep going, because I really wanted to get first," the Thurston High School junior told the outlet.

Anderson won the Class 5A 100 hurdles race in 14.93 seconds, the outlet reported.

"I was just so proud," Anderson said about her win. "Just very, very happy."

Yup, someone already mentioned this.
But she would have gotten smoked in California by Anisa Fontenot in 13.07

In fact, the entire field would have smoked her.
9th place at CA State Meet was 14.19

So many great kids competing at the State Meet this year!

Say hello to one of my favorites.

Sprinter/Hurdler Prince Najeeb Buchango-Babalola of St. Ignatius in San Francisco.
Just a junior and only started picking up sprinting since his sophomore year.

Earlier in the Finals he finished runner-up in the 110m hurdles in 13.59

Previous PR was 21.20
20.79 last Saturday to WIN!

High school track athlete somersaults to victory

That move was a function of two factors:

1. An indicator of how severely she was kicking the field's @$$ at the time of her fall (at least by a full set of hurdles); and

2. Perhaps the most brilliant and clutch improvisation of all time, especially when you consider that she had a fraction of a second to come up with it. That young lady is going places in life.

I have never seen anything like that.
