oski003, let's cut to the chase: Are you generally in favor of what President Trump has done in Iran this year? And what should we do now, going forward?

I believe I've made my position clear: I'm not really against seeing their military capabilities degraded, but everything about what we've done there has been one blunder after another.

I return to my Iraq comparison: yes, the world was probably better off without Saddam Hussein, but no, taking him out was not worth the cost.

Iran right now is a very similar situation.

Compare it to Iraq, to Vietnam, to whatever. It's the same old story. We attack another country without sufficient cause, then we get caught in a quagmire there because we don't want to leave with our tails between our legs.

We inflict significant damage to the other country, but they're still more motivated to hang in there because it's happening in their own country and people there, who might not have hated us before, hate us now because we're attacking them.

There were a few decades when it seemed we had learned our lesson from Vietnam, but we apparently have a short memory.

Agreed 100%

And one cant help but notice that the people who continue to support Trump's "little excursion" have little idea what an offramp looks like.

That, in and of itself is quite telling in my opinion.

They just keep talking about military degradation.

And have little confidence in achieving Trump's stated "original" goals from back in March.

Trump has now resorted to posting Ai slop videos of attacks that never happened.
Is this what a stable genius does?

PS. There has been no attack on Kharg Island as the President depicted.

Generally not in favor of the war. Unfortunately, we need to press on as we are until Iran gives in whether by our pressure or other international pressure.

These are the people who tell you they are against forever wars but have supported every forever war and got upset when a forever war was ended.

Hilarious stuff coming from one of the biggest Ukraine proxy war supporters.

The problem is that the people who push for these wars never get shamed out of public life. All the people that pushed hardest for the Iraq war are still around today pushing for all the current wars.

They keep telling us we've basically won the war and Iran is desperate to make a deal but now Iran is issuing demands that America follow the MOU that Trump signed in June. Curious.

Mark my words...

Trump will be signing what is essentially a "surrender" to IRAN in order to get the Strait of Hormuz open.
The offramp is coming soon. - - - Just look for the clown car.

No unconditional surrender
No regime change
No nuclear deal.

You heard it here first.

worst prediction yet and there have been many

And yet the "little excursion" has now gone on for six months now.
What is the "offramp" that you see for the United States getting out of Iran?

Please be specific and realistic.

One good thing...

Trump's successor, doesn't matter which party, should be able to reverse a lot of the international damage just by saying that was all Trump. A one-off. Let's start with a clean slate.

One bad thing:

Presidents from both parties have caused plenty of damage of their own, so no guarantee that "48" will be better.

The Congress people that Jeffries has just put in charge of the Dem foreign policy are 100% pro war, pro Israel and fully aligned with Trump's policies.

^ Who are some specific Dems who have said they are in favor of this war? (I'm not trying to say there aren't any, but I want names.) My assumption about Jeffries was always that he had a lot of Jewish voters in his district and so was pro-Israel.

Heck, I am pro-Israel, but I'm very much against their current government

When I wrote my Representative and Senators after the war with Iran started, I thought Alex Padilla was sort of trying to stake out a middle ground with his reply, which I didn't appreciate.
