Trump Asked FIFA President to Review Folarin Balogun's Red Card, Report Says

Trump Asked FIFA to Review U.S. Player's Suspension. Now He's Eligible to Play. - The New York Times

And it's been reported that it had no impact and still none of this shows that Trump said it was because of him. Still waiting for you to prove your claim.

Bingo.

Who is reporting Trump's call to his admirer had no impact on the reversal of the suspension?

The circumstancial evidence supports but one conclusion: The only reason the suspension was reversed was Trump leaned on Gianni Infantino……and everyone knows that.

Glad to hear you are relying on circumstantial evidence and must therefore agree with me and BSane that there is no evidence that "Typical Trump" is taking credit for this.

Trump is a corrupt dolt, but he isn't doltish enough to make a public admission of his corruption. I'm not sure the concepts of "proof" and "evidence" are defined by your team's understanding of those terms.

Great so you still can't substantiate the claim either as Oski pointed out. Good talk.

Add "substantiate" to the list with "proof" and "evidence."

I never said Trump "took credit" for the lifting of the suspension because that would be an admission against interest.

If this matter was in court as it sits today, a jury would find Trump's call got the suspension lifted.

Perhaps Infantino will come up with some absurd "alternative facts" explanation that gets Trump off the hook and you can run with that.

Class is dismissed.

I hope he called. What's the use of a President otherwise?

One day out of a thousand where I disagree with most of your posts... and I guess that day is today.

What's the use of a President?!?

+ keep the reflecting pool crystal clear
+ issue random tariffs to keep other countries on their toes
+ discourage scary-looking NBA players from visiting the White House
+ initiate regime changes across continents
+ motivate reporters to lose weight
+ keep Netanyahu in office and placated

I could go on, but the point is, it takes a leader at the top -- one with a diverse skill set -- to keep this country moving!

IMO they got the right result for Balogun (he didn't deserve another game's suspension for what he did), but got there essentially through two wrong-headed processes: first the use of slow-mo VAR review when it shouldn't have been used to issue the red, then reversing that because of political pressure.

1.VAR protocol was ignored, and the card should never have been issued. Balogun's availability should be upheld.
2. FIFA's own precedent with Ronaldo proves this is inconsistent. It's a corrupt system that will never be applied fairly across the board.

Erling Haaland earns an annual salary of approximately $60 million in on field earnings (wages and performance bonuses) from Manchester City. This figure excludes his off-field income, which adds roughly another $20 million yearly through lucrative brand endorsements.

Norway 2 Brazil 1

What a great game to watch in Greece with a bar full of Norwegians

Not a soccer fan so this is all new to me.

Haaland's second goal inspired me to confirm what I saw with my eyes:
Yes, he has high velocity on his kicks.

I looked up the average height of a pro soccer player: 5'7 to 5'8.

Haaland is 6'5. He didn't appear to be running as fast as the smaller guys at the end of the game….but hey got'er done!

The average height of players at the World Cup today is 6'.

  • Goalkeepers: Average 6'3" (190 cm)
  • Defenders: Average 6'0.5" (184 cm)
  • Forwards: Average 5'11" (181 cm)
  • Midfielders: Average 5'11" (180 cm)

What an incredibly dumb thing to say, and point to double down on. As if FIFA was going to openly declare, yes, Trump called Infantino so we changed the call for him. Completely asinine.

Of course they changed it at his request, and of course they're not going to say they did.

Cool and I think your comment is an incredibly dumb thing to say as it's already be argued in the thread. However that is entirely your right to think that but again, as Oski and I have said, there's no proof of that.

You all claim Trump is so egotistical and self centered and then argue that he wouldn't take credit for this in the same breath. That's what's completely asinine.

Well, I going to go with my own assessment and the assessments of those that worked closely with him:

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Trump had the understanding of "a fifth- or sixth-grader."

White House chief of staff John Kelly called Trump "an idiot" and said he thought the president was "unhinged."

Both Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and former chief of staff Reince Priebus called Trump an "idiot."

Former economic adviser Gary Cohn said Trump was "dumb as sh@it" and former national security adviser H.R. McMaster said the president was a "dope."

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said in November 2017 that Trump was "like an 11-year-old child."

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in July 2017 called Trump a "moron."
