Problem with saying "Russiagate was a hoax" is you need to define your terms there. Did anyone prove that Trump was personally colluding with Russia? No. Was it a legitimate thing to investigate? Yes.

Collusion isnt a legal term and wasn't part of the investigation. Mueller found that Russia helped Trump, Team Trump welcomed the help, and there were contacts between Russians and Team Trump. Mueller did not find a criminal conspiracy but he did find an effort to obstruct the investigation.

No, it was bull**** from the beginning. But the Democrats on this forum have never been able to have an honest discussion about Russiagate and that isn't ever going to change.

Okay, let's have an honest discussion. Tell me why it was "bulls**t." By that I assume you mean that no investigation should have happened? Or if not, please define your terms.

They can't have an honest discussion about it. They'll just say "Steele Doisier", "no pee tape", "it's a hoax". They can't discuss actual substance on the matter.

I did that before and you guys did exactly what you always do. Blame the source.

The bull**** about Russiagate is well documented at this point. I'm not interested in jockeying with sycophants on the topic again. Anyone that is not already well educated on how the whole thing started as a Clinton op that morphed into an intelligence agency op based on a false predicate and has a more curious mind than the Democrat sycophants can PM me for what to read. I'm not giving their BS air.

Okay, so no honest discussion then.

I've seen much of the above. My take is that two things can be true:

1. Yes, the Clinton campaign was indeed trying to push a narrative about Trump being in Russia's pocket. This was hardly a big secret, as she called him "a puppet of Vladimir Putin" in one of the debates. They probably did some shady stuff to provoke further investigations.

2. The Trump team (especially Paul Manafort) was also doing things that looked super fishy and like possible collusion with Russian operatives and that would have triggered an investigation anyway.

Unfortunately some people just want to stop at point 1 and never look further into point 2.

Honestly, Trump does Vladimir Putin's bidding just because he's afraid the pee tape might be released and people brush it off like it was no big deal. Hard to believe. Must be one helluva pee tape... but whatever's on it -- goldfish bowl, whatever -- I don't wanna see it!

When you're being texted invites for "free *****" for a woman your crew gave ketamine to you are being invited to a rape.

Not necessarily. You're making a lot of assumptions. I don't really want to know but my guess is you haven't had a lot of group/party/open sexual adventures.

This is not that. This was predatory. She was alone in the sense that she was the only woman involved at the frat house doing things nobody would have reasonably believed she would consent to prior to taking a very strong and illegal drug.

She went over and started before taking ketamine. It's not really accurate to blame it on that. You also have no idea what this woman would have or wouldn't have done. All we can go off of is what she did do.

I've seen people do things you would never guess they would do.

It is because when somebody is drug addled and you invite new people into the situation to have their way with her, that is rape

Not necessarily

This Cornell rape case seems like one where people on either side are living in totally different information environments that just do not intersect each other at all. It's part of why I've avoided commenting on it; I legitimately do not know what to make of it.

This Cornell case needs a jury trial, but now that Leticia James is involved, I'm guessing politics will matter more than facts.

Lots of bad decisions made on all sides by all parties regardless of whether any charges are brought. The most important issue at the moment is that these cases being decided on social media by mob mentality is bad for the course of justice. It poisons the jury pool.

My broad take is that some of these frat guys behaved very badly (especially the guy who texted "Free p***y" and invited a whole group in), but also that the DA was probably right that they wouldn't be able to get a criminal conviction on anyone (given that she had consented to begin the encounter and take the drugs). There's a zone of sexual behavior where it isn't criminal but it is morally bad.

I am not so much worried about the morality piece. Consenting adults can do what they want to do as long as it's not hurting anyone. But as a parent, I am and was always on my daughters never to take anything offered them in a group situation and always to go to any parties as a group and to look out for each other.

On the frat boy side, you're just dumb if you put yourself in a situation where you walk into a room full of other guys and only one girl having sex. Consent or not, you are taking a very stupid chance and the absolute minimum smart thing to do in that situation if you get that text is to text that person back, advise them to leave immediately, and get yourself as far away from that situation as possible.

You do not hate this administration enough.

"What happened today was a blitzkrieg on a public park. A cherished DMV space. If you are not livid about the circumstances that led up to this and what exactly the Federal government did in the past 24 hours I don't know what to tell you.

Let's do a quick timeline:

1. Last night, a Friday before a long weekend, at 5PM, government lawyers filed a notice that tree cutting would begin in earnest today. The stated reason was a pretext - apparently fulfilling a 2019 Cultural Landscape Review on East Potomac. This was clearly an excuse to bring the gangs in.

For months the government has stated there is no plan, nothing has been decided, going to follow the law. Ya, right.

2. At 5:30AM this morning, 3-4 dozen workers assembled at East Potomac Park. The blitzkrieg began shortly thereafter. They were given clear orders to fell as many trees as possible.

3. For hours, from 6AM until 4PM today, nothing but chainsaws. Healthy trees, old trees, all would come down. No clear estimate for the extent but at least 100 trees came down.

The devastation is apparent. Entire groves cleared. Not a single animal on the peninsula. Not a sound aside from the roar of chainsaws. Earth ripped to pieces.

Anybody that thinks it is acceptable to shred public lands to appeal to the vanity of the President of the United States needs their head examined.

We have been sounding the alarm on this for months. For months we knew this day would come. Where the President would, under dubious legal pretexts, sic his goons on a beloved public space.

This is not a local issue. This is fundamentally a question of if we the people own our public lands or the temporary resident of the White House does."
