But what I skimmed shows no plan to increase reading, writing, or mathematics abilities or test scores.



What's needed is not more marketing slogans, but students achieving basic core competency skills.

There was a Black principal decades ago, she was wonderful, in the northeast, who was tired of all the new educational fads. She studied the educational playbook of a prestigious local school and copied it. Uniforms, structure, the Principal greeting every student by name at the beginning of the day, etc. Students studied the classics and work was rigorous. She had huge success, and had a large waiting list. Kind of an earlier version of Jaime Escalante (East Los Angeles calculus teacher).

Portland appears to have invested millions more in an unproven, undefined, and unserious cultural and political DEI program.
