You're calling the father of a gravely wounded National Guard member ridiculous? What is wrong with you?

He was replying to the post about no more jury trials. Are you that dense?

Becsuse a trial by a jury of our peers is a fundamental guardrail against government stuff. Take a minute and read up on why England guaranteed jury trials to begin with

I'm not sure I want my fate in the hands of 12 people too dumb to get out of jury duty.

Yes please chastise people who follow the law and do their duty.

That's a really gratuitous oversimplification by the guy in the tweet.

Many/most of these 3rd world countries do not have the governmental infrastructure to reliably provide the info that's used to vet people. That is likely applicable to all people who were allowed in from Afghanistan during Biden's withdrawal. It makes complete sense to circle back on everyone that was let in from A; it's reasonable to pause on future admissions until the system catches up with past errors/admittees.

He's responding to stuff like this from Stephen Miller:

Not sure how to read this other than that he believes certain peoples are inherently bad/inferior and will inevitably cause ruin. Never mind that surely people once said the same thing about Miller's own Jewish ancestors. It's what he believes, and he's running immigration policy right now.

He uses the word "scale". He's talking about integration into American culture and values that are not always naturally easily compatible with western values, not the badness of individuals.

People who come from lawless Third World lands where terrorism, violence, FGM, Shari Law, stoning, acid attacks on women, child r*pe, pedophilia, pedastry, true homophobia (gays thrown off roofs, though, ironically, they endorse pedastry and pedophilia), and actually documented members of ISIS / ISIL / MS13 / etc fit the bill and are incompatible with modern Western
values.

This incompatibility is demonstrated in Western Europe where incidents of r*pe have gone up 500% to 1,000% in 25 years - depending upon the country. This includes horrific WIDESPREAD 'grooming' gang r*pe, torture, and pimping of children, and women being r*ped by taxicab drivers.

That's an extremely generous reading of his comments. IMO it's quite clear from Miller's statements and behavior that he also believes in the badness of individuals from these places.

It's also clear that some folks here (like movielover) agree with him on that. I do not, and will continue saying so.

"Those who suggest Miller exhibits sociopathic traits often point to his professional behavior, policy positions, and accounts from people who knew him in the past:

Lack of Remorse or Empathy: Critics frequently describe Miller as unfeeling and unmoved by the discomfort or suffering of others, particularly concerning his hardline immigration policies.

Callousness and Manipulative Behavior: Reports from former colleagues and others suggest a pattern of being a bully* in high school and college, and an adult who makes others uncomfortable to assert power.

Disregard for Norms: His promotion of white nationalist literature and ideologies has led many to characterize his actions as deeply extremist and indicative of a disregard for the rights and dignity of others.

Goal-Oriented with Little Regard for Process: He is often described as a single-minded policy architect focused intensely on his immigration agenda, willing to push boundaries and manipulate situations to achieve his goals. "

It makes sense. This is a message board. When you post, folks reply to you. Hopefully, one day you will understand how a message board works. Feel free to write a diary if you don't want to be challenged. Journaling may also be good for your health.

A buddy and I bought a home in Walnut Creek in June, 1982 when I was 27 years old for $137,000. We sold 500 square feet to a neighbor due to an improperly located backyard fence for $5000 and we sold 500 square feet at the front of the house for $5000 to the City for a bike path. My buddy got married in 1984 and we sold the house for $147,000.

Today the fair market value of that house is $1,700,000. F me!

The house in Walnut Creek that my wife and I bought in 1992 has increased in value 308%.

It's all meaningless in light of the fact that by 2030, after the robots have turned us into husks from cavity probing, our house will be one small link in a chain of data centers feeding the AI Overlords.
