so this is gonna take a little time to get rolling but passionate people like bloesch will find a way to get it done

we got 2 new 2023 scholly o-line guys in 6'8" nick morrow (who got more footspeed than any other guy in the o-line room) & uber athletic frederick williams (who could also play defensive line) but both guys need to put on significant weight to compete for playing time but if they got that intensity/work ethic they both gotta lotta upside

the biggest mistake the staff could do right now is panic & bring in unathletic guys who will never see the field & tie up precious schollys for multiple years

last season the o-line room had 14 schollys, that needs to be rightsized to 16

ben coleman & spencer lovell (who wuz a granite statue that could not play in space) are gone to be replaced by nick morrow & frederick williams

the really exciting aspect of coach bloesch is his track record of developing offensive linemen at both north texas & tulsa prior to that and that's 100% what we need with cal's monster offensive line during winter conditioning & then 2023 spring ball

also think coach bloesch is gonna be a very positive influence upon future head coach in waiting mike saffell

and while the monster likes to poke fun at mike's texas roots, he is not a dumb azz, this guy got an undergraduate degree from houston in the academically challenging major of kinesiology & then a masters degree in education administration (which means he's already more qualified than cal's current con artist but andrew mcgraw is the monster's already picked next athletic director in berkeley)

Thanks Shock - makes sense. I never expect freshman to make an impact especially on o-line but am hoping we have some redshirt freshman who are now ready to block our dope RBs.

It's too bad the new o-line coach has a very narrow recruiting net but if he was going to have a narrow net, I'm glad that it is in Texas.

We were one o-line away from something special.

I think Montgomery has tentatively scheduled a visit for Jan 27. That is the last weekend of OVs before the Feb 1 late signing date. If he comes the Bears have a decent shot IMO. But he is a highly coveted JC player so there will be lots of programs pushing to get that last visit.

wuz given a potential range of sun angel nil dollars (which will not be repeated) but it's not in the same zip code as the reported florida nil deal...any deal with harlen sr will require jaden to stick around for future seasons & not become a "free agent" after every season with the threat of transferring if the economic demands are not met

bravo to the cal women's basketball team for playing a noon school rock game with 2,000+ elementary kids from economically disadvantaged local schools taking a hopefully life changing berkeley campus tour including the visit to haas

but the bears lost again, reality is that coach charmin smith (7-43 in the pac 12, $480,400 salary) is a good person/role model but not very adept in game management or developing talent (she got two +1 athletes in michelle onyiah who is woefully underutilized & amaya bonner who did not play)

while this is a reflection of the evil bureaucrat jennifer simon-o'neil (the longtime enabler in the mckeever fiasco) this pales vs the cal's women's volleyball last 3 pac 12 season record of 1-62, that's right one victory 62 losses

reality is that donating money to the cal athletic department (other than buying football tickets or directly to the cal men's golf team) is the equivalent of:

a) helping pay the con artists annual salary of $1,900,000+ thru 2029

b) helping pay mark fox's salary of $1,300,000+ thru 2025

c) helping pay the salaries of worthless bureaucrats simon-o'neil, tom lowry & markeisha everrett

i walk & carry my lightweight leather mackzenie bag while the donald drives a golf cart literally to within 6 inches of every green...just as annoyingly, we then proceed to play thru every group on the golf course in front of us (why does he do this, why not just take the 1st tee time?)...it's funny to watch people's reactions as he dictates the playing thru, some golfers are understandably agitated while others want a selfie with him on their phones, he very clearly enjoys all the drama he's created

so he tells while we wait for the short par 4 8th green to clear that he thinks ferry point is one of the greatest golf courses in the united states (it isn't, there are at least a dozen courses on long island & the hamptons that are significantly better) & that he's qualified to make that statement because of his extensive travels around the globe playing golf, that nobody knows golf architecture better than him & that includes actual golf architects

so in front of his 2 buddies & his cart caddie i tell the donald that actually i'm one of the 13 guys (and the youngest) to have played the world top 100 courses & stare him down...total silence, one of his buddies who is the chairman of macys starts to laugh, & donald play punches my shoulder kinda hard, he's been pwned...whatever

dude is an interesting guy but playing golf with him is not really a celebration of the game but more like riding a roller coaster

He may have been offered high numbers but since they weren't paid they aren't relevant. He's trying to do what's best for his family, but he doesn't have a realistic sense of his true market value. Sounds like he and his father will be very disappointed with the number he ultimately ends up with, and if I'm the NIL collective, I'd insist on backloading his deal or at the very least putting most of the money in escrow subject to him remaining at the school some requisite amount of time. He's already proven he has no problem bailing out for a bigger deal.
