The obvious question is why she isn't a candidate for Cal Chancellor. I'd assume she values Cal's academic standing, but maybe she knows too much about the political minefield the academic senate and frankly the students and COB present. I wish her no ill will but would hate to see UCLA snap her up. In some ways, having a med school along with being in LA makes UCLA a better gig.

hollywood, agreed that condi would be a remarkable candidate for both cal & ucla but the most obvious question to me is why wuzn't she stanford's 12th president when classics scholar dr richard saller wuz innagurated into office on october 16, 2023?

keep in mind that stanford's budget including its hospitals is currently larger than 13 states

the litmus test for me with respects to the next berkeley chancellor is whether or not they will expediently terminate knowlton which will likely result in a successor that will cut sport teams, reduce unnecessary bureaucratic bloat & balance the budget or will they follow in christ's footsteps in allowing the con artist to continue chartering his current course of direction in running cal's athletic department into the looming existential financial iceberg which will end cal's revenue sports as we know them...it's really this simple

fun fact: back in the cal's monster class era shocky would converse pregame at haas pavilion with the studious tamarik rabb who always had a book with him while sitting next to his delightful moms tami (then the head chef at the ol' yeller cafe across the street from bishop o'dowd high school, now she OWNS the devaugn's cajun kitchen in san leandro)...we never talked about his older brother high school mcdonalds all american older bro young ivee or basketball, we talked about his entrepreneurial dreams & possible paths to achieve those dreams


let's fast forward, tamarik graduated from o'dowd, graduated canada junior college with a 4.0 gpa & transferred to cal & is crushing it these days as a graduate of the undergraduate haas business school

shocky is very proud of the fact that the once primarily white azz haas biz school has become more inclusive over time, this transformation accelerated under the tireless leadership of then haas biz school dean rich lyons...as a former berkeley undergraduate, lyons bleeds blue & gold and understands the mission of the #1 ranked public university in the world

"Unwisely scheduled"….? You keep harping on that like you know that there were other options.

With Cal going to the ACC and needing one game against a P4/5 team (as that's what the league prefers), Oregon State was about the only choice. Cal already had an FBS game, (Davis), scheduling another would only hurt the Bears' schedule as it would not count towards Bowl eligibility. G5? Name available options please.

Thinking you can schedule a non conference game at less than a years' notice is difficult. Especially since you are joining a new conference and don't know your own conference schedule yet. The ACC schedule won't be announced until sometime in January. From what I understand, only 3 teams might have been available to play Cal, but only Oregon State could play in September. Cal had few options, and probably none to line up a non conference game in October or November.

Again, please let us all know who you think Cal could have scheduled instead of OSU, which now according to your opinion doesn't look so bad?

these connections would've gotten the independence bowl the day after berkeley finals (which adversely impacted the performances of haas biz ad major fernando mendoza & true freshman cade uluave among other undergraduate student athletes) horse traded for a bowl game in late december

the networking with other athletic directors for a potential game with the bears should've started a year (or two) ago, waiting around is the act of a worthless bureaucrat...cal got into the acc in august, at that point knowlton should've already had a dozen legit potential scenarios for a 4th occ game...oregon state with all american running back damien martinez & the remarkably improvisational quarterback gevani moccoy will be a very dangerous opponent when the beavers visit memorial stadium on september 28, 2024

a great athletic director would've called in favors to arrange a 4th occ game with a very beatable opponent, this happens all the time with programs canceling prescheduled 2024 games in order to either avoid certain dangerous teams or schedule easier creampuffs...for instance just recently stanford wisely got out of their 2024 game with dangerous jacksonville state (9-4 this season including a bowl victory)

and almost none of these great athletic directors are stealing $1,300,000 a year while playing dodgeball with all interview requests and secretly borrowing tens of millions of dollars from the central campus instead of just balancing the budget

alky, 100% realize u bleed blue & gold too, are u upset too that the long promised basketball practice facility isn't gonna happen anytime soon (this decade) according to my recent conversation with the former lead $10,000,000 donor doug goldman (his offer is no longer on the table)?...r u enraged that a mens basketball team with an exciting enthusiastic new head coach drew just 2516 fans at the last game as haas yet knolwton & his handpicked markeishaa stubbornly refuse to offer free tixs to all students?...mbb got no future pipeline for future season tixs buyers & donors right now

the truth is that knowlton is a worthless piece of **** that is running all cal athletics teams into an existential financial iceberg & his failure to find a 4th game against a team that will facilitate the upward trajectory of the cal football program is just another one of the con artist's **** ups

alky, when cal's monster class got terminated here, both shocky & my yoga buddy jaylen brown walked away from the cal basketball program, got it?...shocky doesn't even watch the games on tv, with my scorpio skies ocd tendencies ima either all in or all out in my pursuits (you don't play the last 17 world top 100 golf lists by just wanting to play a couple of good courses or something)

think ur basketball program is well past 100+ losses in the hole since that happened

Shock, I think you are giving OSU too much credit. AFAIK the only missing key player today was their RB. The only notable "proven" transfer is McCoy.

And would not be surprised to see some more transferring out by spring.


And then they lost their 2 beast weapons, their HC and their OL coach.

If JW can't beat OSU at home next year - he needs to be fired then and there.
