I care, but I have no reason to believe it won't end badly.

I haven't done this since the Holmoe years, but this is probably the last home game I attend while Wilcox remains coach.

The prevent defense in Q4 no matter what sealed it for me.
Can't watch this crap anymore live.
It's one thing to watch players failing to execute plays and officials jobbing you while your coach throws stuff and gets beet red on the sidelines.
It's another thing to watch your coach make dog **** play calls stubbornly, watch officials job you while your coach takes his aggression out on players, and then watch the coach blame the players for his own dog **** play calling.

Glad we won, but we won this in spite of our coaches (and o-line). They should still be fired.

He's not proven to be any better than Tien, so far.

Wilcox has not been able to build momentum in the Cal football program. Irrespective of whether this is due to bad luck due to factors such as the pandemic and injuries, or his poor suitability to succeed as a head coach, it is really hard to recover from where things are now. NIL might bring in or keep a few talented players, but to build a winning program you need to have a positive win trajectory and recruiting trajectory. Failure to launch on such a trajectory within a window of a few years is deadly for a program. Sure, we'll fill our roster at all positions, but we don't have a good path to elevating the program above where we are. For example, do any of the incoming linemen have the athleticism, agility and quickness nessessary for a high level college OL? I don't know but would be interested in an informed assessment.

Owens and Ruffins are the two that will probably start…
On Owens, it is clear he was a member of the number 1 line in the country with respect to sacks allowed last year however he was the 4th best in pass pro of that group so his talent in such is hard to gauge ie whether it was scheme or talent.
With respect to Ruffins he's clearly got talent however there were some injury question marks which there are with Owens as well.
Either way the troubling thing to me is that Wilmoe still isn't recruiting o lineman at the high school level well.
For a dude that preaches this boring ass conservative pro style bend don't break crap it's a head scratcher to see such a coach never emphasize recruiting and developing olineman.

At least Wilcox getting paid $5M per through 2027. So happy for him.

The best time to fire Wilcox about 7 years ago when we all knew he was terrible. The second best time is RIGHT NOW.

By every metric he is the worst coach in FBS football.
