Any Wilcox defenders left, show yourselves

I'm numb at this point. I just tune in now without much enthusiasm or hope and chuckle at the impressive variety of ways he finds to lose.
I'll care about the big game. And maybe I'll care about 10% about osu just cause they're such trolls on twitter. But the only real thing that matters is going to be the offseason.
The offseason won't matter if Wilcox is still our head coach going into next season. We could have all 4 a d 5 star players, and Wilcox would find ways to lose.
The only upshot I have seen (and maybe the only way out for him to avoid his tenure being killed in 6 weeks) is Tobias Merriweather might be finally ready to go, but otherwise it's TuesdayLACalFan said:
A midseason tarmac'ing seems unlikely. I doubt they'll make a move postseason either with the big buyout.
It's been a slow and steady rot. He's finally run out of excuses for cover. No more COB, COVID, NIL to blame.
We're last in the ACC (THE ****ING ACC) and we're in a grudge match this weekend, not optimistic that we win, and Wilcox...yeahRaidersBear24 said:

Nope. Not a great guy. No reason to say he is a good guy. He screwed his old boss over to get Tosh to recruit for Washington while we were still paying him.Oski87 said:
Great guy, can coach defense, can't get the best team he has had to a winning conference record. That is it.

Richard Winters was a good guy. John McCain was a good guy. Pete Newell was a good guy. John Adams was a good guy. Jimmy Carter is a good guy. John Wooden was a good guy. Patrick Laird is a good guy.
What good has Justin Wilcox ever done for this world?
Wilcox is a good linebacker coach. Not a great DC. Terrible HC. Not a good guy.

If Cal outsourced management and marketing of the revenue sports to a Cal alumni run not for profit, with voting shares based on donations (or per donor over a certain threshold) then the shareholder/fans would have that authority.

Very interesting stat, if true. Would be a uiseful stat to fire Wilcox, if true.
I'm hardly a fan of Wilcox, as I argued strenuously on Write For Califonia wnen he was extended that that was a dumb idea. But I might change my mind if someone would provide the stats that Wilcox's only wins, or at least a very high percentage of them (like 90%), occurred on Cal home turf.

Appreciate the passion and consistency in your messaging Calumnus, but Wilcox is not going to be fired before 2026 at the very least. We will go 7-5 this season, possibly 8-4, and around 8-4 next year, give or take, with his buyout still in the 8 figures. That's the reality, barring some Cal alum hectomillionaires getting really upset with JW.
The focus should be on Knowlton.
PaulCali said:If I had the new chancellor's ear (God forbid), because of the financial constraints, I would advise hiring a dynamite new AD FIRST, letting the new AD initially focus on reorganizing and reenergizing the athletic department and shepherding us into the ACC. I would advise riding with Wilcox as HC for a while longer until his buyout becomes more manageable. The buyout for Knowlton would be much less and and he could be replaced immediately. I'm assuming, of course, that we get a new chancellor who really cares about Cal athletics.bluehenbear said:
We need an AD that knows what's needed for successful football and how to get it. That's exactly what UW did… it was more than just DeBoer.

F U Wilcox.
It was an easy pass to an open receiver on the 2 point and it was thrown nearly out of bounds.
Yes, kickers need to make 40 yard field goals.
Regardless, the head coach is ultimately responsible. He needs to get an OL coach. It may be too late. He loses any of his next 3, and he should get the axe.
