I want Wilcox gone as much as the next guy, but doesn't the transfer window that would open in the event of his immediate firing concern anyone? Wouldn't it be better to fire him after the last game, (hopefully) hire a new coach expeditiously after that, and take our licks in the usual transfer window in January?

Our talent level is so low that we don't have much to lose, other than JKS. Plus, this season is lost anyway, so it doesn't really matter what players we lose. We have at least two more games that are certain losses this season, and possibly three with Wilcox at the helm even if no players depart.

JKS would help land new recruits.

If you were the parent of a 4* recruit, wouldn't you know that JKS would be gone in a year or two, anyway? You can use his name, but not expect that kids will count on his being there by that time.

You sell the school on your total attributes - bicoastal exposure, real family environment, great facilities to train and develop, $$$$$ committed to hiring the best coaches, reputation for putting big stars in the league (they know who we are), chance to make Cal an up and coming program and be recognized for doing it, Superstar GM who knows FB backward and forward with contacts throughout the sport, number one academic public university, $$$$$ NIL money, for starters. See which are the kid's top three and hammer them home.

The portal rules changed so that the window now opens 5 days after the new head coach is announced. A big reason why all the programs that actually know what they're doing have dumped their deadweight coaches.

Speaking of which, wouldn't the off week be a good time to bring the hammer down, after getting mauled at L'Ville?

That's the next best time after this week. The sooner the better.

Wilsux should've been terminated years ago. As for RR and Lyons, they should've tarmacked Wilsux in San Diego after the inexcusable and embarrassing beatdown the Bears suffered. Wilsux was going to get paid his millions either way; let him pay for his own air fare back.
