Mr. McGuire: "Are you listening?"

Benjamin: "Yes, I am."

Mr. McGuire: "Plastics."

Benjamin: "Just how do you mean that, sir."

After 3 viewings of the film I have arrived at my favorite quote:

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Best line from OUATIH was between Cliff (Brad Pitt) and Tex from the Manson Family

Ciff: I don't remember your name...
Tex: I'm the devil, and I'm here to do the devil's business.
Cliff: No, it was dumber than that.

That reminds me of the line in the cult sci-fi classic "They Live": "I'm here to kick *ss and chew bubblegum; and I'm all out of bubblegum."

Rowdy Roddy Piper says the line was an ad lib. But I suspect he heard it in a Wrestling promo somewhere/some time and filed it away for future use. It has a Ric Flair quality to it.

Maybe not a line or quote, but a great speech by Charlie Chaplin from The Great Dictator...

That's Palisades Park in Santa Monica. Didn't know the hometown figured prominently in In-n-Out history. Lord knows it took them forever to come to LA County & the Westside.

" In the early 1960s, dude became prominent in surfer culture as a synonym of guy or fella. The female equivalent was "dudette" or "dudess". but these have both fallen into disuse and "dude" is now also used as a unisex term. This more general meaning of "dude" started creeping into the mainstream in the mid-1970s. "Dude", particularly in surfer and "bro" culture,[citation needed] is[when?] generally used informally to address someone ("Dude, I'm glad you finally called") or refer to another person ("I've seen that dude around here before").[13]

One of the first known references to the word in American film was in the 1969 movie Easy Rider where Wyatt (portrayed by Peter Fonda) explains to his cellmate lawyer (portrayed by Jack Nicholson) the definition of "dude": "Dude means nice guy; Dude means regular sort of person."

In the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance I understood that "Dude" was being used in its original meaning " a person dressed as a dandy". This was because Jimmy Stewart was a well dressed lawyer in the Old West and had the more refined manners of a person from the Big city. Lee Marvin was a rough cowboy with the manners to match. "Dude" was an insult.
