teach, the challenge of the current roster construction is that all of the combo guards got a scorer's mentality (which is a good thing for a scoring challenged team last season that often struggled to score 50+ points in game) but trey woodbury is unique in that he not only knocked down 40% of his 3 pointers last season but his distributing/facilitating mindset also made his teammates better

He is supposedly close to Trey Woodbury who has already seen his initial waiver application for a 6th year denied. IMO his best case for support of his mental health would be to play for a HC and staffers that he already has a relationship with. The NCAA is supportive of players mental health and his former HC is now here.

Cal has his former HC a staffer and S&C coach now. There is the support group he could lean on in his case to get a waiver.

graguna, agreed & would also add that cal has the resources to also provide counseling services for its student athletes just like the medical/dental services, mental wellness is a huge topic these days among young people

but in my medical opinion (post grad work at stinson beach trauma unit) the best solution for those struggling with finding their balance is surrounding yourself with people that truly love you, got your best interests in mind at all times & that provide a safe zone for inner personal growth/development

6956, aziz & trey (who is a very unique high level athlete that got zero social media, he's 100% focused on his core values) are very close & in fact scholly room could be available to sign both of them this year

check out ncca statute 15.5.1.7 which would allow coach madsen as a new coach to cal the ability to put monty bowser on a non playing scholly thru his graduation while not participating with the basketball program anymore...this is not running anyone off, monty would still earn his berkeley degree which is worth potentially millions of dollars & the reality is that he's only gonna play walk on minutes with the newly constructed roster

of course bowser could also decide to transfer (the portal closes for undergrads may 11th) to sacramento state in order to get a bunch of playing time but that would be a dumb azz 50 year decision

so yeah mad dog got an ace card in his pocket if he needs 2 (not just 1) schollys

check out ncca statute 15.5.1.7 which would allow coach madsen as a new coach to cal the ability to put monty bowser on a non playing scholly thru his graduation while not participating with the basketball program anymore...this is not running anyone off, monty would still earn his berkeley degree which is worth potentially millions of dollars & the reality is that he's only gonna play walk on minutes with the newly constructed roster

of course bowser could also decide to transfer (the portal closes for undergrads may 11th) to sacramento state in order to get a bunch of playing time but that would be a dumb azz 50 year decision

so yeah mad dog got an ace card in his pocket if he needs 2 (not just 1) schollys
I am aware of the rule regarding new coaches that would allow Madsen to put a player on non playing scholarship. Sanders is doing this at Colorado to clear out some roster space for his new " furniture".

Both Woodbury and Aziz would need waivers. I think both would be likely given how spineless the NCAA is but not a certainty.
