What has occurred to me is the overwhelming number of young college players that make the decisions that favor athletic success or program success over the clear path that a Cal education can provide. Just this past season we have seen players in multiple programs leave Cal to go elsewhere in pursuit of athletic success without a Cal degree.

When you throw NIL $$ into the equation it makes the decision making process even more convoluted. We see evidence daily that players choose athletic success over education time and time again.

Young people with professional dreams often get their head turned by money and wins and full house gyms over a 40 year decision.

and that's why there's a lotta unedukated former basketball stars living in moms basement with mental health issues reminiscing about their hoop dreams back in the day

hedging ur bets in life & maximizing ur educational opportunities is the financially & mental healthy wisest course of action in pursuing generational wealth in the future, just playing basketball on a basketball court with a basketball is not a plan

but here's the deal, newell gotta build up his 6'8" 220 lbs body to become more explosive, there were too many games last year when he did not impose his will

furthermore his crooked azz shooting percentages of 26.9% on 3 pointers, 39.7% on field goals & 63.6% on free throws es no bueno

Even if Mad Dog pulls in another good wing (likely?), there will still be room in the rotation for Celestine. Two more wings (less likely) and they can all compete for playing time. Great. Plus, I hear Cal players get injured every now and then.
