2014 Asian Games - Day 1: Siobhan anchored HK to a new national record with a really impressive 53.71 split in the 4x100 freestyle. 2nd fastest split in the whole field by far (even when accounting for the flying start), as only Siobhan & China's Shen Duo (53.58) managed to break the 54 sec barrier!
Cal Bears Camille Cheng had led off with a 55.67, followed by alumna Stephanie Au in 55.51 to also help HK earn a podium spot behind JPN and winner CHN. Their relay time of 3:39.94 would actually have been good for a bronze medal at this year's Commonwealth Games if Hong Kong had still been eligible, trumping 3rd place Canada's 3:40.00!

Former HK record of 3:40.80 was set at the 2009 East Asian Games (supersuit era of polyrubber-aided fast times) by a team that boasted alumni Hannah Wilson (54.79) & Stephanie (55.26).

Another Golden Bears international, Yvette Kong, placed 7th in the 100 breast final, with a 1:10.66
Imagine if we can field a 100 free relay next season sporting Abbey Weitzeil, Amy Bilquist & Siobhan Haughey - would be heck of a potent combo that could out-match even furds' supposedly unbeatable quartet of Manuel/Hu/Engel/Neal! And if Missy should change her mind about going pro next year, this would easily be an NCAA record smashing squad!! Highly unlikely I know - but one can dream, right?! :p

Day 3: Stephanie, along with Sze, Camille leading off, and Siobhan anchoring for HK, won bronze in the 4x200 freestyle just now. I believe their time of 8:04.55 is a new national record, besting the 2009 standard of 8:04.86 that had previously been set by Hannah, Yvette, Stephanie & Sze. 4th place Korea came in 7 seconds behind HK.

Day 5: Stephanie (1:01.96 back), Yvette (1:10.69 breast), Sze (1:00.08 fly), and Siobhan (54.42 free), secured HK's 3rd relay bronze with a time of 4:07.15 in the 4x100 medley. I was actually hoping they would overtake Korea for the silver, but Yvette & Sze's times were slower than expected. Should be noted that China was DQ'ed in the prelims, so it worked out fortuitously for HK in terms of a podium place, with Japan taking the gold.

Three bronze to conclude this years Incheon 2014 Asian Games. New records were made. The bar is higher now. One most important thing: Special thanks to all the unfailing support from my teammates. I don't think I could have done all this without you all. From kunming training till now, all the laughters, sweats and hardships, only we know and will be remembered. I can't love this group too much!
