I'll be very interested to learn the cause of death. Few years ago, a friend of mine from high school died in a rehab because apparently if you are an alcoholic and quit cold turkey, the body can have some sort of adverse stress or shock reaction that kills you. That's what happened to my friend. Is that what happened here?

Or was he taking more drugs and secret? Or was it suicide?

At any rate, we are back to my staunch opposition to recreational drug and alcohol use. Every family has some sort of history with this, we're just injuring ourselves.

Garcia died in his room at the the Serenity Knolls treatment center in Forest Knolls, California on August 9, 1995. The cause of death was a heart attack, likely due to diabetes and his poor diet.

Substance abuse haunts both sides of my family. Just thinking of my unalive cousins, there were two raging alcoholics, one meth addict and one heroin addict*. Their lives were s***.

I'm so lucky I didn't get that gene. I don't do anything to excess (not counting Bear Insider).


* if you're thinking my family reunions must've been a blast (literally), no the four were divided by family, with the individuals spread throughout the US..

what, is today official share and tell tuesday? alrighty then, i'm blessed with one living "bother", who lives in san diego (forever); most likely will never see him again. a self-employed now and then plumber, whose home belongs to a zero mortgage company. we fought constantly as kids, both/neither won, and look forward to keeping in touch by phone several times a year. his best times were motorcycle hill / dirt biking.
