Hear hear! If it weren't for ConcordTom, we'd be starting new threads every time anybody that's anybody croaked!

I liken this to the invention of the wheel.

Thanks kinda the way I've thought about it.

But enough of this orgasm on Trump, let's get back to the sick and twisted ghoulish stuff.

Anne Heche, 53, is not expected to survive.
I wanted to be the first to deliver you the news.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/anne-heche-suffered-severe-brain-031345594.html

Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition," the rep says in a statement on behalf of Heche's family.

"She is not expected to survive."

"It has long been her choice to donate her organs and she's being kept on life support to determine if any are viable," the rep tells PEOPLE.

…Disgusting humor aside, any time someone passes, there is a moment for sincere reflection, and I do hold THIS moment sincerely. Blessings to her family, and her memory. Hopefully some organs can be useful. I've known family who have both given and received in this manner. Tis truly a gift of the heart and of modernity.

Anne Heche has been pronounced brain dead now.

I feel really sorry for everything she went through in her life. She seemed like a tortured soul. I am glad she didn't kill anyone.

I have a friend who works as a producer in Hollywood and through her I have met some very famous people and also heard about her own interactions with even more.

We were talking about Anne Heche's accident and how she was not expected to survive.

She said that she went to an event once about twenty years ago that Anne also attended. She commented that in a room filled with models-actresses-whatevers Anne stood out and just completely dominated the room with her presence. She wore a white or off-white dress which didn't show a lot of skin and yet every head turned to look at her in awe when she entered the room. My friend says that she had this supernaturally radiant glow about her and looked about as close to an angel as a person could look.

I suppose now she will be with the angels. I hope she is able to find the peace she never knew in life.

I also hope that through her organ donations she will help others live.

If you've been listening to The Howard Stern Show the past 2 years, you would've heard how agonizing a time Stern has had with his parents, who have both been ill while in their 90s.

Ben Stern, a fixture on the Stern show who worked in radio, died recently after turning 99.

R.I.P.

The San Francisco Giants announced today that Tim Lincecum's wife, Christine Coleman, died of cancer in June at age 38.

When I first saw this story 4 hours ago, I went to Tim Lincecum's Wikipedia page. There's no mention of a wife. I just check it 4 hours later, and still no mention.

What is also odd is that the San Mateo Daily Journal published a lengthy story on her death (not one of those paid obituaries) and the word "Lincecum" is missing.

Yes, they don't have the same last names, but it's still kind of odd.

This thread is for people who've died or are close to death. Not to take away from this horrible event, but Ron Rivera indicted an hour before your post that he'll be fine.

Serves me right for just quickly scanning this. I saw "Ron Rivera indicted" and almost did a spit take. Then I realized you meant "Ron Rivera indicated".

I wonder if he was descended from Thomas Lyon of Rye NY.
If so, we're related.

Looks like we've all been feasting on Lyon's works. Some good videos out there, too.
But, I can't find record of his family.... Only that he "grew up in Burlingame" and then went to LA/military and SF.... 4th generation San Franciscan.
Waiting to find his appearance with family in the 1930, 40 censuses - would show who his parents are. Then I could trace him back to one of the original Lyons that came to the colonies long ago.

I think more than a few of us are thinking that a couple of reproductions of those photos framed and hanging on the wall of our home may not be a stupid idea.

Gorbachev was approximately 20 years younger than Ronald Reagan. And he dies 18 years after Reagan.

Gorbachev was arguably the most hated leader in his country, though a bit less than Yeltsin.

Here's the story…
The lady was going 90, suffering bipolar.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nurse-accused-killing-5-might-230519645.html

Nurse charged with killing 6 might have lost consciousness, suffered mental collapse before crash

Nicole Linton appears in Los Angeles Superior Court for arraignment on murder charges stemming from a traffic accident, Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, in Los Angeles. Linton, suspected of causing a fiery crash that killed five people and an 8 1/2-month-old fetus near Los Angeles, has been charged with murder, as well as vehicular manslaughter, and is being held on $9 million bail.

The nurse facing murder charges for allegedly slamming her Mercedes-Benz into traffic this month in Windsor Hills was in the throes of a "frightening" mental health crisis in the days, hours and minutes before the crash, new court records filed by her attorneys show.

The revelations came in a comprehensive filing by Nicole Linton's defense attorneys that offers the most detailed narrative yet of the events leading up to the horrific crash that killed five people and an unborn child.

four-year struggle with bipolar disorder and include a determination by doctors in the immediate aftermath of the deadly incident that Linton suffered an "apparent lapse of consciousness" at the time of the crash.

"She has no recollection of the events that led to her collision," wrote doctor William Winter on Aug. 6. Winter treated Linton at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

"The next thing she recalled was lying on the pavement and seeing that her car was on fire," he wrote.

Except that the city does not look like that anymore. Those photographs were made over 60 years ago, and belong in a museum. All the cars were from the 1930s, '40s, and '50s. Most of the men and the women wore hats. If you didn't, you weren't dressed. The musician wore a coat and a tie during his set. No photos of the iron gates and iron bars on most residences and retail businesses in this big city today. No photos of the homeless. (We had a few. They lived near 3rd and Howard streets.) And no photos of smash and grab mobs. The site is still here, and some of the old buildings, and the marvelous views of Marin, the Bay and the Ocean, but the city is long gone, and won't be returning any time soon.

That's what Chief Ohlone says.
That's why the photos are classics and to be admired, too.

What will SF look like in 75 more years, and what will they say about our city then?

Gorbachev was faced with an almost impossible task. On the other hand, what else could they do, stay as the Soviet Union? That thing had to crumble, at one point or another. Same with their "communist" command economy.

Nope, Donald Sutherland will probably be dead in 75 years.
So will Keifer - and his daughter, Sarah Jude Sutherland (34).
