William Friedkin, Oscar-winning director of the movies below, has died.

Directed 2 of the greatest car chase scenes in movies.

Fun fact: His wife, Sherry Lansing, was a member of the University of California Board of Regents from 1999 to 2022.

My connection to William Friedkin was through his former fiancee and the mother of his son, Jennifer Nairn-Smith who I interacted with regularly for a few years maybe a decade ago or more. She was a dancer, is a dance teacher, and also sells (or sold) real estate.

He denied her son was his for a long time, although he ultimately accepted that fact.

He provided for her and his son, but not in the way he could have or should have given his wealth and that of Sherry. They met on the set of The Exorcist and she was with him during his meteoric rise but he was a womanizer and also afraid of commitment.

He was a good filmmaker, but not a good father and a horrible human being.

Ha! One of my childhood friends was the (alleged) son of a famous married Hollywood person. This famous person publicly admitted to being in my friend's mom's home 9 months before my friend was born. But he went to his grave denying he was the father, so there was no relationship.

DNA test???

This was before DNA tests.

But when DNA tests became a thing, and the son was in his 20s, he tried to get a DNA test. The judge turned him down.

He can still do it and figure it out on his own.
I'm involved in genealogy and dna helps. There are so many people out there who have it done, you can really see a lot.

If you're still connected with this person….

One is the study of who F'd whom.
The other is the study of the F'er.

Maybe that's why I'm so obsessed with Trump - he's one hell of a MF. Literally!

You know, back in the olden days of 25 years ago, it was considered uncouth to have affairs and not be monogamous.
But this guy is SUCH an expansive violator of cultural and legal norms, nobody even bothers to discuss his womanizing ways anymore.
It's really quite something.

But how about this one - you just KNOW there's at least one illegitimate DJT out there. It'll come forth eventually someday. DNA is forever. And that's the next stage of my genealogy research! Finding cousins (who may own old photos and such) through DNA matching.

Here's my lasting impression of The Association as their heyday was a little before I got heavily into music. Back around 1990, I was at the Silver Legacy Casino in Reno and decided to go to the bar for a drink. They had a band playing in the bar and they were pretty good, though they were playing a series of covers of songs by The Association. Slowly it dawned on me that it actually was The Association playing their own songs for free at the bar (no cover - not even a requirement to by alcohol). I recognized a couple of the original members but wasn't sure about the others. At one point, the lead singer (Kirkman I think) spent about 5 minutes introducing Cherish with a long spiel about how universally important and loved the song was and how proud they were to have created it. I stayed for about an hour and enjoyed it. As I left, I felt sorry for them as they had fallen a long way since their time at the top and it didn't seem like they had fully come to grips with it.

I have a similar story about a band playing free at a local bar.

They were pretty good and some of their songs seemed familiar.

I went back to tell my friends "Hey, that old guy on guitar is REALLY good!"

It was David Newton of The Mighty Lemon Drops

Such a lovely woman. The first time I saw her up close was at a Hibernian Newman Club St. Patrick's Day Lunch at the Jack Tar Hotel a year or two after she became mayor. I was shocked how tall she was (5'10).

"Tributes also arrived from her Republican colleagues in the Senate. In a post on X, Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida called Ms. Feinstein "a political pioneer" who was "intelligent, hard working and always treated everyone with courtesy and respect." Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa and now the oldest member of the Senate, said the two had "a wonderful working relationship."
"She's a true public servant, I'll miss her," he said."

Senator Feinstein was battling shingles earlier this year, she passes away at 90.

"Her career was one of many firsts. She was the first woman president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the first woman mayor of San Francisco, and one of two of the first women elected to the U.S. Senate from California,

Feinstein was born Dianne Goldman in 1933. She was born and raised in San Francisco by a Russian Orthodox mother and Jewish father. She was married three times and had one daughter with her first husband.

I appeared before her daughter, Katherine, a couple of times for trial settings when she was the Presiding Judge of SF Superior Court.

Judges can be quite thorny and rude to counsel for a variety of reasons (e.g. they deal with a lot of jerk attorneys and start treating them all the same; they are a@ssholes drunk with the power they have over you, etc.).

I was always so impressed with Katherine Feinstein because with her entitled background and being the PJ, she had the perfect resume for being a real nightmare. She couldn't have been more courteous and even dispositioned. She is a lovely woman like her mother was.

"I hope when she stands in judgment before her maker, she is punished accordingly."

Hopefully Mr. Ritter is preparing his own closing argument for when he stands before his maker and tries to put his patented Russian TV spin on the crimes he was charged with, convicted of and served time in prison for.

* Congresswoman Lee was the only member of Congress to vote against the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) on September 14th, 2001
So assume you are a HUGE Congresswoman Lee supporter, right?

Quote:

I met Senator Diane Feinstein once, in the lead up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. She had just recently been assigned to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (in 2001), and it was in that capacity that she had a senior staffer from the committee ask me to come to Washington DC to brief her on Iraqi WMD and the allegations being made by the Bush administration that Iraq continued to possess them. We met in a secure conference room in the Capital buildingme, the Senator, and a half dozen staffers and aides. It was a polite, professional affair, with the Senator asking questions and taking notes. Eventually she confronted me"Your position is causing us some difficulty. You are making the US look bad in the eyes of the world." I replied that my analysis and the underlying facts were rock solid, something she agreed with. I said that while I knew she couldn't reveal sensitive intelligence, if she could look me in the eye and say she has seen unequivocal proof that Iraq retained WMD, I'd shut up and go away. She looked at her retinue, and then me. "I have seen no such intelligence," she replied. She thanked me for the briefing, and said it provided her with "food for thought."
On October 11, 2002, Senator Feinstein voted in favor of the resolution authorizing war with Iraq. Later, she said she had been misled by the Bush administration and bad intelligence.
I will forever know Senator Feinstein as someone who had been empowered by the truth, and lacked the moral courage to act on it. The blood of thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis stains her soul. I hope when she stands in judgment before her maker, she is punished accordingly.

This is a FANTASTIC little story coming from you!

You see, it is VITAL that we choose honest leaders, people we can trust, people who have a proper moral compass.
Leaders have immense sway on the population, on their staffs, their underlyings, and on other leaders.

You are correct in mocking that there were no WMDs in Iraq! But you need to place your ire upon the laps of George Bush and Dick Cheney - the directors of the deception.

And once you finish doing that, draw a thick black sharpie mental line to the most dishonest, untrustworthy, morally corrupt DECEIVER the American political system has EVER known.

And once you finish making that realization, then stop being snarky towards those of us who have long known that Trump himself IS the WMD! And he's right out in the open for all to see, not hidden, nothing secret.

Cure yourself of being under the guise - perhaps like DiFi was once upon a time.
