Have a good night, and thanks for the chuckles.
Back to the yard work myself. I needed a rest.

No, I am not a Mormon but i won't criticize a religion that I don't understand deeply.
Yes, I think I WILL criticize a religion without having a PhD in it when it tries to tell me I could become a God in control of my own planet!!
Okay, let me clarify that - I am making fun of my homeless, deranged, ward of the state of Utah, drug addict and DEAD cousin who told me that.
If there happens to be any similarity to what religious leaders in SLC have to say about the matter, I'll allow that to stand on its own!
Mike, I love you, but seriously??
His ashes are buried under a secret pile of stones in the Utah mountains, off the highway near Park City, with a view his brother, sister, and father thought he'd like. Rest In Peace, Mike. Tell grandma I'm finding lots of good stuff about her via the TWA Skyliner publication!
Or, oh, maybe you can't see her, she was a devout Catholic.
Hmmm… what to do about this matter???
This is me slowly walking away and saying nice talking to you but I see someone I need to say hi to.

A woman is facing felony charges in Nebraska for allegedly helping her teenage daughter illegally abort a pregnancy, in a case where Facebook’s parent company Meta handed information to police.

Florida appeals court affirms an order prohibiting a parentless 16-year-old from terminating her pregnancy on the grounds that she has not proved she is mature enough to get an abortion. So the state will force her to have a child instead. https://t.co/1UqnPUErG0 pic.twitter.com/z8uMmAoxub

Sad, and the state will abandon her and her child once she's a mother. Unfortunately, life in a ****hole state can still be quite brutal and unforgiving.okaydo said:Florida appeals court affirms an order prohibiting a parentless 16-year-old from terminating her pregnancy on the grounds that she has not proved she is mature enough to get an abortion. The state says they'll do the hand recount if the activists requesting it will pay for it themselves, despite the fact that the abortion rights side won by a 20-point margin.

I don't think conviction is in and of itself desirable.
His desire is to take away rights from people, which I would consider a harm. I don't think his actions are anywhere close to the other people with conviction I noted. I just wanted to clarify (by reducing to absurdity) that conviction in and of itself isn't necessarily great.calbear93 said:Not a great analogy.Unit2Sucks said:Timothy McVeigh also had a lot more conviction than most here. Did he harm anyone other than himself? Comparing terrorist to someone who is willing to put up his savings to follow a legal procedure in pursuit of his personal beliefs is a bit odd.
Again, it's your personal belief that anti-abortion laws take entitled rights away from people and cause harm. He probably believes that fetus is a person and permitting abortion (like murder if you believed fetus had life) takes rights away from people and cause harm. You clearly have conviction in your beliefs like he does. Neither of you will convince the other, and there is no objective proof to your beliefs other than your own personal values. He is just willing to do something highly sacrificial (even if dumb) in pursuit of his conviction, which is more than most of us are willing to do.Unit2Sucks said:His desire is to take away rights from people, which I would consider a harm. I think we are going in circles. I understand you may agree with his personal beliefs but I find the shenanigans from the forced birth crowd in Kansas to be pathetic. "Value them both", the wording of the ballot prop and the timing (primary vs general) were all designed to confuse people and convince people to mistakenly vote for something they don't agree with. You can chalk it up to conviction but I find it to be manipulative and fraudulent. I won't shed a tear when this dude's conviction costs him dearly. I am glad he failed.calbear93 said:Again, it's your personal belief that anti-abortion laws take entitled rights away from people and cause harm. Extremely dark abortion news is just pouring out today. Now a Louisiana woman says she's being forced to either carry a fetus to term that is missing its skull and part of its head, or travel to Florida for the nearest legal abortion. https://t.co/xRYLUFPN8I

"That weighs on me. I voted for that bill. These are affecting people," Collins said, adding that he did not sleep the entire week he heard this story.

Collins ended his speech by pleading with his peers, choked up with tears, telling them, "What we do matters." Glad he finally realized it.

This is more of a positive story. A South Carolina republican now regrets his vote in favor of SC's forced birth law, now that he sees how disastrous the impacts can be. Maybe when more of these forced birthers see the disaster created by their draconian laws, they'll understand why so many oppose them.Quote:

Louisiana’s attorney general just delayed a $39 million line of credit for the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board – which the city needs for its flood response – because the city won't enforce the state’s abortion ban.https://t.co/jEugJJM1E0

What an idiot. Politics is all fun and games until you realize you are ruining people's lives.
2/ ... all implying that they're making a choice when they're really not. Another woman, just after getting the devastating news that the umbilical cord had detached from her pre-viable fetus, had to do the same things. She waited 14 hours for the heartbeat to stop.

4/ Women with much-desired pregnancies have been shattered to learn that the fetus they're carrying has fatal abnormalities such as anencephaly. In Ohio, they have to find the resources to get an abortion out of state or carry on the pregnancy for months...
