Just hard to see how they are better off with Trump. He's not going to be any kinder to Palestine than Biden.

The campaign is 100% unnecessary. Arab Americans have already dropped their support for Biden like a hot rock.

It's the "Democratic" Party and the DNC who are putting Trump in the WH with their insistence on running Biden as their candidate, and their insistence on supporting genocide & ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza. They are trying to eliminate Hamas. Yes, if Trump is elected, those supporting the Hamas terrorists and creating a narrative that Israel is the evil actor in this conflict will be partially to blame.

Biden's allegiance to Israel is nothing new. Biden has said how his father helped instill in him the justness of establishing Israel as a Jewish homeland in 1948. His political career has long included deep engagement with the Israeli-Arab conflict in the Middle East, and personal relationships with Israeli PMs including their current PM.
During 36 years in the Senate, Biden was the chamber's biggest ever recipient of donations from pro-Israeli groups, taking in $4.2m. A large percentage of the moiety to run his campaign income will come from Jewish donors. The Muslim American community is relatively small. About 1 million Muslim voters voted in the last Presidential election, generally for Biden, because Trump is so pro Israel, and very anti-Palestians. Are they now going to vote for Trump? To put some perspective: The US Jewish electorateJewish adults who are eligible voters ages 18 years or olderis estimated at just over 6 million or 2.4% of voting age adults. The majority are registered Dems. Sure some of the far left may not vote. But if you are looking at voter constituencies, it should be pretty obvious which one you pick.

Is the far left not going to vote and allow Trump to become President over Israel? Could anybody be that naive to think so? Far left women who care about abortion rights are going to allow Trump to become President? Seriously? This may be one of the dumbest posts I have ever seen.

You often see this magical thinking from extremists on either side of the spectrum. They both completely misunderstand the lay of the land and think that their wild predictions can somehow move the markt.

We saw that a lot with pro-Trumpers (look at the 2020 election night thread for hilarious takes) and now we are seeing it from progressive extremists.

If Biden was making a cold political calculation, he would support Israel because supporting Muslims in the US is not smart politics. Supporting Israel unequivocally would likely have made things even worse for innocent Gazans (who suffer primarily under Hamas rule, but also from lack of support from surrounding countries as well as persecution by Israel). People who support Palestinians should understand that while Biden isn't abandoning Israel, he has been acting as a moderating force to limit the civilian impact caused by Hamas' decision to goad Israel into attacking Gaza.

People who think that Biden made the "wrong" choice because Muslim people are going to abandon him can't even fathom that there is another side to the coin. There was no way for Biden to make a "right" choice because it was very much a heads you win, tails I lose situation. If Trump does win, which I highly doubt to result from the Hamas terrorism war, than I think we'll see a lot of handwringing from the Muslim community. If they would prefer to have a Muslim ban in the US, as well as increased hostility to Muslim people worldwide, they should vote for Trump and enjoy the consequences. I suspect that we'll see some shift in support at the margins, but the biggest risk to Biden's re-election is lack of enthusiasm or people forgetting how bad Trump really is. If we have a high turnout election and people under 30 show up, Biden will sail to victory again.

The last time that the "Democratic" Party rigged their primary process and insisted on running an extremely unpopular candidate (Hillary Clinton) with very unpopular domestic/economic and foreign policies, those same "stupid voters" stayed home, and Trump won.

The killing of thousands of innocent civilians, with our $$$ and support, in our name, is NOT a "minor issue," and young / Democratic / Progressive voters are not likely to "get over it." Why would you think that they would? There's only going to be continual escalation as the Netanyahu/Likud genocide continues. They can say that they're going after Hamas all they want, and they can insist that it's self-defense all they want. Everyone can see what's really happening. And before you know it, we'll be up to our hips in World War 3 unless we put an end to the slaughter of innocents.

The "Democratic" Party has proven beyond any doubt that it doesn't care at all about its voters, or what they think, or what they prefer. They serve their donors -- including AIPAC.

Why would the Dems insist on running the only candidate, and the only policies, that LOSE to Trump?
  • Marginal capacity to be President at 80+; no longer in charge of policy;
  • His Fed Chair raised interest rates, making homes even more unaffordable for young buyers;
  • Funding, military support, and logistical support for genocide & ethnic cleansing in Gaza;
  • Failed to pass a bill to ensure voting rights;
  • Failed to raise Minimum Wage;
  • Failed to meaningfully address Climate Change;

Biden & the Dems failed to deliver on any of the promises they made to U.S. voters in early 2021. Why would they support someone who's committed to NOT improving their lives?

You seriously think that the Dems are going to vote for Marianne Williams or Dean Philips? In case you haven't noticed, you actually have to be on a ballot to win elections. The Iowa caucus starts in January, which is next month.

Let's pretend you are far left, young voter. Are you going to allow a candidate with the following views to become your President:

1) Against abortion rights
2) His economic policies favor the rich
3) anti-immigration
4) hates anything "woke"
5) described himself as a "law and order" candidate
6) Says climate change is a hoax and wants to weaken environmental regulation
7) Says let's repeal Obamacare
8) Advocates capital punishment
9) Believes torture works and should be used
10) Against gun regulation
11) Wants to eliminate bilingual education
12) Wants to eliminate LGBT rights

I could go on, but anyone thinking far left voters are going to let this guy win the Presidency by not voting is smoking something, but then again Trump is for reforming 420 laws.

Oh yea, for you Muslim voters out there, go ahead and cause the election of the guy wanted a ban on Muslims entering the country.

On policy, it isn't his Fed, most voters favor Israel over Palestinians by a huge amount, even in the Democratic Party, When it comes to Israel versus Hamas, it is not even worth considering. Isreal's incursion will be over and in the rear view mirror come next November. The vast majority of voters would not agree with your hyperbole characterization of genocide and ethnic cleansing, and such language only serves to turn off potential allies. All the other things you mentioned were successfully blocked by the GOP and in some cases with Democratic support, , and are opposed by Trump who is Biden's opponent. Your argument that suggests these unhappy voters have much choice ignores the reality that the two candidates will be Biden and Trump. That you got 3 people who actually thumbed up for illogical post is distressing, and likely says something about this forum. .

The Hamas / Palestinian man means no harm. You are just biased by your western ways and cannot appreciate the context of his words. The language of resistance is sometimes confusing.

The Jewish women is lying. She's a Jew, that is what they do (didn't you watch the 1st video?). And even if she's somehow not lying this one time, it was only 1 woman that was de-breasted, raped and killed. It is all exaggerations and lies by Jews. Obviously. Besides, Israel has killed 15,000 Palestinians. That is 30,000 breasts. Why aren't you outraged by that?

That's the kind of "loving" that has been going on in Israeli detention camps for half a century now.

Josh Paul, State Department official, who resigned over weapons to Israel, says a charity told US govt that a 13-year old Palestinian boy was raped in an Israeli prison.

People within the Israeli government and military had some knowledge of the planned attack prior to Oct 7. They even gave it a name, Jericho Wall.

People won't vote for Trump over Biden on these issues, but people may very well stay home on Election Day. A lot of people made that choice in 2016 as well.

The Dems best hope is to encourage turnout by demonizing Trump and reminding women about abortion. Biden certainly isn't helping his own cause very much. I would say he is toast except that Trump is loathed so much that maybe just as many Republicans will stay home instead of voting for him. I am concerned, though, because in the end most Republicans don't vote according to their morals.

Why in the world would the NGO be shut down and declared a terrorist entity by Israel if the rapist was not an Israeli guard. If the rapists were other Palestinian prisoners, it would have been nice PR for Israel, reinforcing the image of Palestinians as savages that they have carefully nurtured.

In Israeli jails, torture and sexual abuse of Palestinian detainees, the majority of which are political prisoners, has been widespread for decades.

New study details sexual torture of Palestinian prisoners by Israeli authorities
Quote:

A new academic study in the peer-reviewed medical journal 'Reproductive Health Matters' has revealed dozens of cases of "alleged sexual torture or ill-treatment" of Palestinian male prisoners detained by Israel.

The article, 'Sexual torture of Palestinian men by Israeli authorities', claims to be "a first in the investigation of torture and ill-treatment of a sexual nature, allegedly carried out by Israeli security authorities on Palestinian men."

The study's findings "show that sexual ill-treatment is systemic", with 60 testimonies identified over the period 2005-2012. According to the article, "Israeli authorities are systemically involved with torture and ill-treatment of a sexual nature."

The reason Abu Ghraib was particularly horrific was because Israeli torture and humiliation procedures were applied there:

Disgraced U.S. Abu Ghraib General says Israeli Interrogators, Israeli techniques in Iraq

Reuters reports,
Quote:

The U.S. general who was in charge of Baghdad's notorious Abu Ghraib prison said on Saturday she had met an Israeli interrogator in Iraq, a claim Israel denied but which was likely to irritate many in the Arab world.
Brigadier-General Janis Karpinski, who was responsible for military police guarding all Iraqi jails at the time prisoners were abused by U.S. troops there, told the BBC she met the Israeli at a Baghdad interrogation center.
"He was clearly from the Middle East and he said: 'Well, I do some of the interrogation here and of course I speak Arabic, but I'm not an Arab. I'm from Israel'," she said.

The "contractors" are said to be veterans of Israel's domestic intelligence unit, Shin Bet, as well as the more famous international intelligence agency, the Mossad.
The Associated Press quotes the defense attorney (and former New Jersey prosecutor) of one of the U.S. soldiers charged with abuses as saying:

Interrogators were using "Israeli methods" including nudity and sexual humiliation which the Israelis had employed to pressure Arab prisoners into talking.

Trump received more votes in 2020 than in 2016. No incumbent has ever lost an election after receiving more votes the 2nd time except for Trump. He'll just need to pick up a few more votes than Biden in a handful of battleground states.

This is absolutely terrifying. An antisemitic mob chanting genocide outside famous chef Michael Solomonov's hummus restaurant in Philly. His crime? Being born in Israel. Very reminiscent of Germans targeting Jewish owned businesses before they started looting and vandalizing. Are these people straight out of the Middle East or are they being radicalized at US universities by Islamic radical supporting professors?

I don't think he will do it and the reason is his antics on January 6th. That cost him dearly.

It is appropriate that he may lose this coming election mainly because he was such a sore loser about the previous one.

Why would the Dems insist on running the only candidate, and the only policies, that LOSE to Trump?
  • Marginal capacity to be President at 80+; no longer in charge of policy;
  • His Fed Chair raised interest rates, making homes even more unaffordable for young buyers;
  • Funding, military support, and logistical support for genocide & ethnic cleansing in Gaza;
  • Failed to pass a bill to ensure voting rights;
  • Failed to raise Minimum Wage;
  • Failed to meaningfully address Climate Change;

Bernie would have needed to win around 75% of super delegates to win the 2016 primary - Clinton had a far larger share of normal pledged delegates than Bernie. People like you just have a hard time understanding that Bernie, while very popular with his core audience, didn't have a broad enough appeal to win the election. Obviously neither did Hillary but Joe Biden did, and probably still does.

This idea that Biden should turn even more progressive to win the election is magical thinking. If anything, he could steer further to the right to pick up independents and GOPers who favor stability for their 401(k)s rather than allow Trump to throw our country into chaos again.

I don't think Biden is heading to the right, but nothing makes me think that it would hurt his election chances whereas heading towards Bernieville seems like a fool's errand. He may pick up a handful of disaffected Bernie pros but he could end up activating far more people to vote for Trump.

What people like you really fail to see is that without support in the house and senate for the ultra-progressive policies that you favor, it will never happen. And there is zero reason to believe there is any chance of the senate developing enough of a democratic majority to pass any legislation that would make you guys happy. So I thin Biden will stay in his lane and that's probably his best path to a second term.

You have misrepresented the basic fact that the protest was not because of the owner's nationality or religion, but because the owner of that restaurant was funding the Israeli army, which is currently engaged in mass slaughter of Palestinian civilians, and that furthermore the owner of that restaurant has apparently fired employees for their political opinion.

Calling this out does not make me an antisemite, or a sick deranged person.

As long as the protest is peaceful, it is a legitimate use of their first amendment rights.

A lot of the anti-semitic sentiment is probably just weaponized by the forces that are trying to achieve some political outcome.

You have a bunch of people who supported Putin's invasion of Ukraine who adopted this ridiculous notion that one of the justifications for the war was to de-nazify Ukraine. It was always a farcical notion and has been thoroughly debunked. The same people who used to pretend that now openly acknowledge the falsity openly by reference to statements making it quite clear it was meaningless and won't be a part of any resolution of the war.

Now those same people are forced to adopt an anti-semitic POV in order to support the Putin/Iran axis of evil in supporting Hamas in the war against Israel. For them anti-semitism (whether as accusations or not) is just a deus ex machina or macguffin to argue for whatever their true aim is.

Unfortunately, a lot of actual anti-semites get riled up by this sentiment and new impressionable people get swept up and become anti-semitic. There is no question that this war has increased the level of anti-semitism expressed in our country and world-wide. And to be fair the exact same thing happens with anti-islamists (which is also technically anti-semitism but no one uses the term that way any more because of all the inter anti-semitism between Jewish and non-Jewish semites).

So if you are arguing with a pro-Putin shill like 88, don't assume he believes anything he is saying. His MO for years has been to cherry-pick whatever he can to support a view that happens to be favorable to Putin. I've long since had him on ignore so I have no idea what he's actually saying about this conflict, but I would imagine it's entirely inconsistent with the views he pretends to hold about the Russian invasion of Ukraine and that he's completely strident and conclusory about it.

In case you weren't aware of his view on the Russian invasion, it was that Russia was forced to invade Ukraine because they mistreated Russian speakers, because they had a huge nazi problem and because they were a potential security threat to Russia. He talked about geopolitical "realism" and argued that Putin was within his rights to completely destroy Ukraine in order to increase Russia's perceived safety and that there was no counter-argument that mattered. Putin had red lines (don't be mean to Russian speakers or nice to NATO) and Ukraine crossed it or like could eventually be seen as crossing it. Because Russia could destroy Ukraine militarily, it was reasonable for them to do it. He excused every single war crime or instance of collateral damage against Ukraine as being the fault of Ukraine (and their Jewish PM who was really an anti-semite who supported nazis) and of course the US, for creating the conditions which forced Putin's hand. And besides, the US killed a lot of innocents too, so how can anyone criticize Putin? I've had him blocked for a while but if you want a good laugh go read the early months of the Ukraine war thread - you will see everything I'm saying is true.

If you were to apply his same arguments to the Hamas conflict, you would make an even stronger argument for Israel to level Gaza to ensure that no embers of Hamas or threat to Israel remain burning, collateral damage be damned. Anyone who truly believes in the self-serving "realism" concept would understand why Israel would be doing what they are doing. Anyone who ever pretended to believe in the notion of red lines would have to understand that slaughtering 1,000+ civilians, including a mass murder at a music festival, would cross any reasonable red line anyone could ever have. The problem is that not what Putin wants (support for Israel defending itself from a flagrant violation of its red line by a force that has no path to military victory), so I would imagine that Putin88 has been forced to disavow any notion of realism and is pretending to be some bleeding heart who cares about every single innocent Palestinian who is harmed by this war. Either way, I'll never find out because I know better than to go back to having to read and respond to his ridiculous cherry-picking in order to support Putin's narrative.

This idea that Biden should turn even more progressive to win the election is magical thinking. If anything, he could steer further to the right to pick up independents and GOPers who favor stability for their 401(k)s rather than allow Trump to throw our country into chaos again.

As we get closer to the election, Biden will turn right in symbolic ways to appear more moderate and pick-up swing voters. Far left liberals are not swing voters, and the thinking they would stay home and allow the vilified Trumpeter to win the election is utter nonsense. The other side of the equation is that there are far more Jewish voters than Muslim voters in this country.

Let's be very clear, not all antimsemites are violent antisemites. That does not make their mob protest agreeable. The keyboard warrior antisemites like you deny crimes committed against Jews, peddle in conspiracy theories, and demonize Israel while praising those who preach hate against Jews. Maybe if you remind yourself that the internet is a Zionist invention you can choose not to use it and that will help everyone out.

Axios today inferred Arab Americans may put tRump in the White House.

Why would the Dems insist on running the only candidate, and the only policies, that LOSE to Trump?
  • Marginal capacity to be President at 80+; no longer in charge of policy;
  • His Fed Chair raised interest rates, making homes even more unaffordable for young buyers;
  • Funding, military support, and logistical support for genocide & ethnic cleansing in Gaza;
  • Failed to pass a bill to ensure voting rights;
  • Failed to raise Minimum Wage;
  • Failed to meaningfully address Climate Change;

100%.

Very few Dems & independents will switch from Biden to Trump. But many more will either vote for a 3rd party (Dr. Cornel West, or Jill Stein), or stay home.

However, the Dems have been demonizing Trump non-stop for years, and it NEVER has the desired effect. This is a sheer delight for Trump supporters. They know that Trump will beat Biden like a drum, and that the Dems are getting desperate.

Don't get me wrong -- Trump is an absolute disaster, and I believe he'll be a ruthless Fascist. But he's also by far the easiest Presidential candidate to beat. Just run a candidate who's committed to using the power of the U.S. Government to improve the lives of working Americans, and they will crush Trump like a bug.

IF the Dems hadn't rigged the Party nomination for Hillary, Bernie would've beaten Hillary -- badly. Bernie is an FDR Democrat, but he was decidedly UNpopular with the Dem Superdelegates. Bernie Sanders won the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary in 2020 while Biden came in 4th and 5th respectively. Then something strange happened....

That's cool, when I talk to Republicans (including my wife), they don't think most Dems have morals either.

I didn't say Republicans have no morals. I said that they don't vote according to their self-professed morals.

In this case, many act like they are aghast at the actions of Trump but they support him anyway.
