60 minutes is a vehicle to upsell pharmaceuticals to old people. It hasn't done anything decent in decades, the staff being the same moldering corpses as the listeners

So this is an equal time issue?

I guess the solution would be to have Crockett on the show? That's Talarico's primary opponent presently.

To be clear, I don't think this censorship is going to WORK. If anything it will help Talarico's campaign. It's dumb and ham-fisted. But badly-executed censorship still counts!

I have no idea what the issue is, nor do I care. It's a pretty benign interview anyway and Talarico doesn't say anything of worth until the final meeting. The rest of it is just fan service for Colbert's audience.

it's the law to give the same amount of airtime to both parties. colbert could have a republican candidate on but he'd rather milk the "censorship" teet

Apparently this is what kept CBS from airing the interview.

Talarico is in the middle of a Democratic primary right now, so his opponent is not a Republican. And as for that opponent:

the law is that local stations have to give equal time.

not in this election cycle. even crockett came out today and said the government didn't force colbert to not air the interview

Okay, but this suggests that Colbert was hardly opposed to having Crockett on his show. CBS made their decision for other reasons.

Since this thread is full of people telling you what they think she said to further their agendas, I'll just post her own words and you can decide for yourself.

Per polling, a lot of this is also generational: younger Dems see Talarico as the best choice, and older Dems prefer Crockett. I think we're seeing a split in style preference: the older voters like the more confrontational, culture-war style of Crockett, but the younger ones like the more pragmatic, communitarian style of Talarico. Boomers vs. Millenials.

CIA withdraws nearly 20 intelligence reports, citing bias https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/02/21/cia-bias-covid-lgbtq-white-nationalism/

"The CIA took the unusual step on Friday of formally withdrawing nearly 20 intelligence reports it issued over the last decade, including analysis on hot-button cultural topics such as white nationalism and family planning, after a review determined they were biased or an inappropriate use of spy agency resources."

Judge blocks release of special counsel Smith's report | AP News https://apnews.com/article/trump-classified-documents-jack-smith-3a86d9c12f18b4dfe648e539925d72a2

"A First Amendment group and watchdog organization have been pressing for the report's release.

Chioma Chukwu, executive director of American Oversight, said it "will continue using every tool available to force this information into the open and to defend the public's right to the truth through the release of this report."

Scott Wilkens, senior counsel at The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University another group pushing for the report's public release said "there is no legitimate basis for its continued suppression."

"Judge Cannon's decision to permanently block the release of this extraordinarily significant report is impossible to square with the First Amendment and the common law," Wilkens said in an emailed statement."
