It's what I've been saying forever - The Left diminishes its own credibility with their insane rhetoric. It's unbelievably stupid because there is so much meat on the bones for legit criticism.
Would you say the same about insane rhetoric from The Right? I'd say that examples abound right now.
At this point in time, I'm not sure what insane rhetoric - at the foundational level - you're talking about. To be clear, there have been many times in the past when it was the GOP doing crazy things. Right now, it's the Dems. I honestly can't think of an issue where they're on the right side, and certainly not on the right side with the public. As a Republican, I say keep at it because I know, as my grandfather told me, the worm always turns. But until it does, I want to see things I believe in get instituted. And right now, the people working the hardest to make sure that happens, are the Democrats. Illegal immigration, deporting violent criminals, cutting bloat and waste out of the government, helping Americans before sending money abroad, protecting women's sports and the list goes on and on... aside from abortion (that would actually be an example for you of some insane GOP rhetoric) there doesn't seem to be anything on which the Dems are taking the position the American people want them to.
I appreciate you speaking up to tell us what the American people want. Surely a monolithic group like the American people must be of one mind.
I'm not sure why you feel the need to be snide in reply to a perfectly civil post.

Regarding the American people. there was an election.
What's civil about saying Democrats are insane?

I will admit being in danger of being fired illegally without cause does make me rather snippy and you caught my crossfire.
So instead of just apologizing to someone being civil to you in this conversation, you create a strawman. 1) I didn't say Dems were insane 2) I said they're doing crazy things - just like the GOP has done in the past 3) I literally started by calling out past actions of my party (in reply to someone saying it was insane), and then brought up the Dems.

This is why it's so hard to have honest conversations when people disagree.

In the private sector I've got fired and laid off. It's not fun, so should it happen to you I absolutely empathize with you, but it's part of life.
I don't see why I should apologize for having different opinions than you. You should grow a thicker skin. Not everyone will agree with you and that doesn't make them uncivil.
Because you lied about what I said and then took that lie out of context. You should grow a thicker honesty gene, because lying is in fact uncivil.
OK, you're right. You used crazy rather than insane. I apologize for using the wrong word. They are synonyms though.

Lies run rampant on BI. Trump lies constantly. Most politicians do, though not to Trump's extent. I don't see you calling out anyone else out for lying and it's a target rich environment here and all around the country.
You still can't do it. It's right there... I didn't say Dems were crazy I said they were doing crazy stuff. Big difference. AND i started it by saying that the GOP has done the same, and even concluded by giving an example of "insane rhetoric" from the GOP. But all I guess you could see was "oh my god, he said something critical of Democrats" and that was it for you. Seriously, I apparently crossed the Rubicon for you. Can't have that so let's attack.

The world is too tribal and binary. This exchange (entire thread) is a good example of it.
OK, I've backpedaled a couple of times and apologized. If that's not good enough for you, so be it. I'm not going to grovel and lick your boots.

Not true.

It's so weird that movielover didn't respond to this.
Just move on to the next unverified claim, that's the deal. Never admit to being wrong.

IS THIS WHY MOVIELOVER ISNT COMMENTING ABOUT HOW TRUMP'S APPROVAL RATING IS SLIPPING (47% . . . 45% ..... 44%) AND HIS DISAPPROVAL RATING IS SURGING FROM 41% TO 51% ?

Trump's approval rating slips as Americans worry about the economy
Presidents tend to see their approval ratings fall after an initial honeymoon period. I expect the same will happen with Trump.

Governments are littered with IT disasters. I believe California's DMV was one. Most relevant may be our Federal government's launch of the new healthcare.gov website - a synonym for abject failure. They failed in the design and rollout; and since it was horrendous, their test lab and management should have delayed the release three months or more.

One key design flaw was requiring every user to register at Step 1, which helped crash the system when it went live. Most websites allow you to browse before purchasing a product, and many users will compare options numerous times before a decision.

At the time I asked two techies what they would charge for a solid Healthcare website. Each independently said $5 Million. I told the Indian doctor and entrepreneur that I would pay him $10 Million - he said I would be over paying. "It's a simple database, look at the transactions Amazon and Ebay handle concurrently."

Bloomberg recently tabulated the website cost at $2.1 Billion; when adding in state exchanges, it baloons to $5 Billion.

As proof, one weekend in 2013 three techies in San Francisco created a simpler website to shop and enroll in ACA called HealthSherpa - which was an instant success.

Look at the Federal paper pension system stored in a WWII mine. (At least add a second mine shaft to speed access.)

Yeah back in my college days I actually created a sales database for a realtor in Minot using a SQL database, it was a lot of fun to make, I know they used it for quite a few years too. I was proud of myself haha. I got course credit as well.

I agree. There are stories today about breaking of the ranks in the GOP House because 880M in Medicare savings are currently required to find the money for Trump's tax breaks and spending. Many R's are fine with things like adding work requirements to Medicare eligibility but that apparently doesn't approach enough savings and they are not willing to cut normal Medicare spending.

A colleague says her unemployed neighbors with four children get $3600 a month for food stamps, and say it's not enough... though they have crab legs delivered by DoorDash!

My colleague: "My husband and I both work, and we don't buy crab legs."

Per simple Google search the maximum monthly SNAP benefit in the US for a family of 6 is $1390.

Every program has people that abuse things but that should not be an indictment of the entire program. When I was a kid and my single parent house was on food stamps we REALLY needed it. There were literally times when we had zero - and I do mean ZERO - food in the house. I'm grateful we live in a country that helps people who have legitimate need and that also provides opportunities so we can no longer have that level of need.

I'm OK w Food Stamps, but I'll double check w my colleague. Maybe it's other programs and SNAP.

Any organization that can keep the doors to the office closed for five years could probably cut the the headcount in half or more and no one would notice.

SNAP is food stamps. There are no more actual food stamps.

Democrats would be sooooo smart to see that dynamic and/or follow the advice of this guy in the clip. Get in the game. Acknowledge there is waste and fraud. Work with the admin to eliminate it.

The D minority leader in Florida introduced a bill (today?) adding pretty stiff penalties for businesses that fail to use e-verify AND criticized Rs for not doing enough on illegal immigration in the state.

But the Republican Donor base will not let this happen, because it would deprive them of cheap labor. You Righteous Righties act like undocumented workers come to America and force employers to hire them and the employers are powerless to do anything but comply.

Republicans will do nothing to punish businesses for hiring illegally. Far more effective for fundraising to round up brown people, put them in chains, and march them out of the country - on live tv!

I partially agree with you. Non-MAGA Rs will fight Trump on this because they are *****s to big business. They need some Ds to get on board. And Ds should get on board - this protects union workers, etc - but they won't for partisan reasons. It's an example of how our system is broken.
