We also shouldn't have suicidal empathy.

- We run a $2 Trillion deficit every year
- 85% of our aid money never reaches the end cause (see Haiti)
- Some claim USAID was used when a project was 'too dirty' for the CIA
- Why did the United States Institute of Peace - similuar to USAID - have pallets of cash and guns in their offices?
- Some claim USAID was used to 'park' Progressives when Democrats are out of the White House

USAID's budget is a tiny slice of the federal pie. In fiscal year 2024, USAID accounted for just 0.3% of total U.S. federal spending. For FY 2025, it's projected to be even smaller at 0.2%.

To put that in perspective: if the federal budget were $100, USAID would get less than 25 cents. Not exactly extravagant for an agency tasked with global development, humanitarian aid, and disaster relief.

Meanwhile, what's going on with the 98.8%

I have no idea what accusations you claim, but have you ever heard of the expression "throwing the baby out with the bath water "?

Do you recognize that USAID performs some valuable functions?
Or you just want to turn your back on the entirety of it all because some politician you follow said so?

Geldof apparently has a nice retirement setup with a rose' winery in the south of France. Perhaps I might be his neighbor when I retire down the road... He's done pretty well for a guy who had one hit single in the late 70s.

The USAID model of development has been proven to be inefficient, mostly by design. It sugarcoats aid policies that put third world countries in debt, maintain corrupt local governments and fail to address the real needs of these countries. I would suggest reading " Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins, a former insider who describes that process in detail.

What Africa needs is a stable government that isn't put together by foreign interests and a solid infrastructure to build their economy and manage their plentiful resources, not Peace Corps volunteers to dig a few wells and put up a couple of solar panels, but megadams, nuclear powerplants, airports, railways, highways, college campuses, fleets of tractors, local agriculture geared towards food independence, added value export products, as opposed high interest cash loans and exports of raw products. Basically what the Chinese have been building there, Ethiopia and Nigeria will have better passenger trains than the US.
