Agreed, getting their pants handed to them was brutal to watch.

The U.S. loss to Belgium Drew a Record 30 million Viewers on Fox.

Also on Fox...

2025 World Series Game 7 --- 27.3 million

US vs Bosnia and Herzegovina --- 26.4 million

NBA Finals (Game 5) --- 24.5 million

US vs Paraguay --- 18.0 million

US vs Turkey --- 17.0 million

US vs Australia --- 16.2 million

That's terrible news for US soccer if 30 million Americans watched that

I think it is great. Some will be lost but it shows the potential.

The fact that people are pissed off about the result (including meathead types like the Barstool crowd) is better than it being ignored completely.

You think this is helpful?

Yes? You need people to care about the result if anything is to be improved.

People need to wait for more information before settling on narratives about how certain players don't want to compete.

That said, as I noted earlier Pulisic just seems injury-prone. Not sure there's anything anyone can do about that.

Not a big fan of Tommy Robinson but I thought this was funny:

If you are referring to Carli Lloyd's comments, I don't have a problem with what she said.
I think she was spot on about Team USA and Pulisic's struggles.

"It's a bit of a downer for us being out here now after this loss, but I felt like they lost the game before they even stepped out onto the pitch," said Lloyd. "I'm not sure why, and I don't know the reasons, but just from the beginning, just chasing, tentative, scared, just not confident on the ball. And I think big-time players you wanted some of those big-time players to step up in big moments."

"I gotta be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Christian Pulisic," she said. "I think whether he wants to be the star of this team or not, we didn't see enough from him in this particular game and really the whole World Cup. Little glimpses here and there."

On X, she took things a step further, posting: "You rest when your playing career is over. Period."

On Thursday, it was reported how severe Pulisic's injury was, as he suffered a bone bruise and microfracture of the tibia/fibula.

50 minutes until kickoff and you could cut the tension with a butter knife. It feels like Disneyland.

France is starting Doue, which I think is a good idea.

Passed by the French hotel this morning. There were like 20 fans outside waiting to see them go out. A little sad.

Wasn't just her. A lot of people ran with this narrative.

Pulisic was hurting the team in that game before his injury took him out of the game

No anti-French bias from the Argentine ref, showing no hesitation to give the penalty on that foul.

90 degrees.
At least the humidity is relatively low at 41%

Just turned on the game. 0-0 at the half, so I didn't miss anything.

(Yes, that was a joke.)

Not a fan of France's unis. Whatever happened to bleu/blanc/rouge?

FIFA inane new rules of potential color clash forcing all whites on the visitors and the recent fad of exotic "third" shirts like Germany's blue shirts or Scotland's reds.

Morocco has got to feel good going into the locker with no score. Still 75min left of playing time before this goes to penalties, not something I would contemplate with Bono feeling it today.

Awesome shot, clinical, quick release and deadly accuracy, that's what it takes to beat a quality keeper like Bono.

Floodgates are open!

Morocco is an excellent side, arguably the best African team ever, France making it look easy.

I wonder how Belgium will hold up to Spain tomorrow, they're hard to predict. Currently Belgium has scored the 3rd most goals with 13, one less than Argentina and 3 fewer than France (16, but with 1 extra game played). Norway is 4th with 11, Spain far behind in 13th place with only 9 goals scored.

Spain has not conceded a single goal though, France has conceded 2 (with one extra game), Argentina 5.

The ease with which France defended a good Morocco team was a sight to see. It seemed like they won every one-on-one duel. I think with a 30 minute workout and a 20 minute walk to the stadium I got more exercise than some of the French players. They were super lazy. I hope Spain brings something out of them. Right now they are like a Ferrari that is only used for grocery shopping.

They will be outclassed and barely touch the ball. It will be like when they played us but the opposite.

A few pictures from Boston. I happened to have tickets in the French section. Thanks again to tech wizard smh for pointing out the picture button up top.

BTW, while the temperature was around 90 during the game, the humidity was low, the sun was not very powerful, and at times there was a cooling breeze. The French midfielders did not run because they chose not to run. That is why I look forward to Spain beating them. There was a headline in the Athletic (can't read the article) that asked whether the French are too good for the World Cup. The answer is that they should be but their style of play and their player choices are off if you listen to this rando from the internet. But why would you?

The talent is off the charts. The swerve on Mbappe's finish was worth the trip to Boston. His defender was blocking the shot and the very good goalie was in position. But as soon as he struck it it was clear what would happen. There is a movie called Billy Jack where the hero faces up to a bad guy and says something like "I am going to kick you on the right side of your face and there is not a damn thing you can do about it." The shot reminded me of the movie scene.

Forecast high today in Inglewood at kickoff is 75F, maybe they will start Doku and KdB right off the bat, that's some powerful countering punch with service from Courtois, to KdB to JD... The Spaniards will dominate possession time but will have to work hard to score. Other than their games against Saudi and Austria, they have only scored 2 goals total vs Cape Verde, Uruguay and Portugal combined. I think it will be a close, exciting game today. Spain vs the other top teams in this competition lacks finishers, they have to pass their way into the goal.

Their ball winner is Onana, who is a fantastic player. He ruptured his ACL against us, which is very sad. (Talk about how we would have been smoked even worse if he stayed healthy.) They still have Tielemans, but I am not sure he is up to this level. Neither Doku nor KDB are ball winners. It will be a long day. Spain is missing a striker, Torres is not very good. But they have won tournaments without one. They have big midfielders like Ruiz and Merino who they can bring in to imitate a striker, plus Oyarzabal is finishing well. Plus we have not had a signature Lamine Yamal game. 2-0.
