interesting and detailed article here on neglected aspect of US State Department use of social media to push for war with Iran. As Tucker Carlson always says: what they accuse others of is what they are doing themselves.https://t.co/qTPXNR50SL

If only we could appoint judges more quickly.

Probably because too many rich people want to exploit cheap labor. The issue is further compounded by are inability to actually enforce the laws. It is so broken that folks wanting to change the laws can't agree on how to fix it.

I could be wrong but I believe our amnesty laws require us to not send people back who are applying for amnesty. We can make excuses but if that is the law then that is the law.

We can't let asylum seekers come in at a rate 100x faster than we can process asylum claims. That defies all logic. The process creates a wave of non-asylum seekers pretending to be asylum seekers because they can live here for years before anybody processes them.

It's a lot closer to what Trump wanted than the GOP is willing to admit. It's really funny to hear people who don't really understand what's going on attack Biden based on false presumptions spoon fed by right wing agitprop.
In reality, Biden is under attack from the ACLU and human rights groups for not being more accommodating. It's obviously a no win situation, but at least the human rights groups understand the policies they are fighting.
Conservatives just want to complain about something even if it's a policy they favor and a subject area that doesn't really impact them at all (which is true for the vast majority of Americans).
Here's your new Republican hero. I wonder when he will get in on the right wing grift machine?movielover said:DiabloWags said:

"When it comes to bull****, big-time, major league bull****, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bull**** story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bull**** story. Holy ****!"
One of my sisters works for DHS handling asylum claims, mostly from Europe and Asia rather than from Latin America. Almost every year during the Trump administration their department budget was cut. Each time she had to sweat out whether she would be laid off, but fortunately for her, she survived each time. By the time Trump left office, their staff had 30% fewer people. I haven't heard her say if they hired replacements since Biden came in, but I doubt it. Having those people on the job would no reduce the backlog somewhat. But I'm not pointing fingers, lol, so back off oski003.dimitrig said:oski003 said:dajo9 said:oski003 said:dajo9 said:

Sure but shouldn't any conversation like this be at least somewhat grounded in facts? I've been seeing disingenuous claims for months about the expiration of Title 42 and the flood of immigrants we would face. The reality is that 42 didn't penalize people for making multiple attempts to cross the border and probably led to a multiplier for that reason.sycasey said:
The real issue is that Congress hasn't done s*** about immigration for decades and the situation will not change much unless they do. The Executive Branch can only nibble around the edges.
Maybe it shouldn't be about finger-pointing at either party, but at least in recent years AFAIK whenever there has been an attempt at immigration reform it's been Republicans who have killed it. Not all Republicans, of course. Some have made real efforts at advancing new laws. But when it bogs down in the Senate it's because they lack Republican votes, not Democratic ones.

Claims about "surges" or "invasions" at the border are usually overblown. The real issue is the slow, unwieldy process for people to apply for entry, which creates backlogs and then further knock-on issues. Congress has done nothing about that for a long time.Unit2Sucks said:Sure but shouldn't any conversation like this be at least somewhat grounded in facts? Things haven't gone as the GOP has expected (the surge didn't occur), so they are back to making up new claims - most recently that there will be future caravans. I guess all they have is the greatest hits.

A big part of the reason why Argentina has the GDP of Colorado is that it has to use Colorado's currency to pay its Washington DC/Wall Street debt. The BRICS hold G7 currencies as their reserves, and not the other way around. And yet, the BRICS just flipped the G7 in economic size.

The BRICS already have a larger share of global GDP (PPP) than the G7, and by 2030, will make up the majority of global GDP PPP, will also be the source of the main economic growth, along with forming the majority of world population. The BRICS will pass the G7 even in nominal GDP within a decade:

The Clinton campaign plan to link Trump-Russia - known to the CIA - was briefed to President Obama, VP Biden, AG Lynch, and FBI Director Comey
The FBI and DOJ restricted two investigations into Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election:

1) The Clinton Foundation investigation
2) Illegal foreign contributions to the Clinton Campaign
"No investigative activities occurred for months"
Crossfire Hurricane was opened as a "full investigation" -

Yet days after it was opened, Peter Strzok was essentially telling a London FBI employee that "there's nothing to this"
According to an FBI CHS in early 2016, the Clinton Campaign was "fully aware" of and "ok with" a foreign contribution in violation of federal law.

The FBI agent didn't get receipts - and asked the source to stay away from the Clinton campaign.
