Yes, they were mostly Trump supporters, sorry to disappoint you but you never asked. Yes, there are neo-Nazi's among Trump supporters and those people were among those who infiltrated but they also do not represent most Trump supporters. And no, Trump didn't give specific orders to infiltrate the capitol.

The left associate all Trump supporters with this bad element but fail to acknowledge any violent actors on their own side, which have been doing and are continuing to do much more damage.

There are so many aspects of the past four years that reasonable decent people can not understand. Standing outside a cult it is impossible to understand the appeal, the gullibility, the cognitive dissonance, the defensive reaction to go deeper with fallacy when presented with facts/truth, and the inability to take stock of one's self and stop. But the past few days I have been struck by these particular really difficult things to witness:

1) Listening to the grievances of the domestic terrorists and assorted Trump supporters, and understanding that there is a grain of personal truth in their frustration and ineffectual role in society, but how misplaced both the blame and analysis is. They attack those who are actually working to better the lives of their demographic, while defending and believing the liars who only interest in them is their mass of voting to pass self-interested policy for the wealthy ruling class. It's sad to see them used and duped, and for their sincere interest in "freedom" be subverted into tyranny, racism, homogenous orthodoxy, and oppression of others. They are so adjacent to being a cause for good if they woke up to who their allies really are and stood behind actual helpful policies and rejected easy emotions born of propaganda. They will probably never see their brainwashing and that it is they and people like them who are the StormTroopers and not the Rebels.That their anger and lack of empathy and education puts them on the bad side and they need to take personal responsibility for what they have allowed themselves to believe.

2) That there are political opinion makers, media, and even posters on these boards who saw the consequence of tribal loyalty and the spreading of propaganda and STILL continue their habitual beliefs and actions. How does a person like BF2 not see those who stormed the Capitol as misguided and dangerous, and hear their words and gulp hard realizing they are saying the same things that he has said and believed? How does he not see that those people who just killed police and attacked our democracy are him? That those being hauled off to prison are possible versions of himself and that he in some way is culpable in those actions, and that by continuing to post the things he does here he is both endorsing the actions and obscuring who he is from himself? That he is looking at the TV at brainwashed people and not for a moment thinking "Oh crap, I've been wrong and I too might be brainwashed." Nope. It's us. He is just all in with defending himself and refusing to grow, repent, or become a better person, and he is enjoying himself participating in the agency of evil he puts out into the world.
