Beyond that, when the next pandemic hits and we have the ability to control it with early action, we won't be able to mobilize that action because 35% of our population won't take easy and basic health measuresB.A. Bearacus said:

Two weeks from tonight on May 26th, we will announce a winner of a separate drawing for adults who have received at least their first dose of the vaccine. This announcement will occur each Wednesday for five weeks, and the winner each Wednesday will receive one million dollars.

Fully vaccinated people can:
- Resume activities without wearing masks or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance
- Resume domestic travel and refrain from testing before or after travel or self-quarantine after travel
- Refrain from testing before leaving the United States for international travel (unless required by the destination) and refrain from self-quarantine after arriving back in the United States
- Refrain from testing following a known exposure, if asymptomatic, with some exceptions for specific settings
- Refrain from quarantine following a known exposure if asymptomatic
- Refrain from routine screening testing if feasible
What kind of intellectual dishonesty and mental gymnastics does it require to go from the mayor of DC limiting activities at indoor weddings to "Liberals won't allow dancing"?hanky1 said:B.A. Bearacus said:

I guess the same kind of mental and moral contortions required of a self professed Christian to support Trump. You are such a flaming hypocrite. Morally bankrupt and mentally deficient is no way to go through life.
I think it was fairly obvious that it was where the studies were going from preliminary data, but it was fair to let the studies play out to their conclusion especially given having to retract would be disastrous and lets face it, once we got here there is no going back.sycasey said:B.A. Bearacus said:

This all was fairly obvious weeks ago, but I guess we should just expect the CDC to be slow and overcautious at this point.
Yes, on some level I understand their over-caution, though it does seem like they could have been more open about where things were heading.OaktownBear said:I think it was fairly obvious that it was where the studies were going from preliminary data, but it was fair to let the studies play out to their conclusion especially given having to retract would be disastrous and lets face it, once we got here there is no going back.sycasey said:B.A. Bearacus said:

Individual examples do not justify any kind of walk back, because they claim was never that vaccinated people are 100% protected from getting or transmitting COVID, only that the chances are significantly reduced. The only way to prove that is to look at results across a large number of people, and that data backs up the claim.bearister said:

*This would appear to justify a walk back of the claim vaccinated people are of no risk to unvaccinated people. This has Keystone Cops written all over it. WHAT IS THE F@UCKING BIG DEAL ABOUT MASKS? What is the average emotional maturity age of Americans? 12?

You are presuming Maher is in the 5% not covered and that his situation is a rarity....both presumptions may be accurate...or not. I truly hope you are right and that the timing on all this is good and that we haven't missed a sweet spot for this relaxation that was a couple of months from now. Fingers crossed. I'm responsible for my own safety with regard to Covid. I expect no one to curtail their freedom to keep me safe.
*Fauci just went all in on the relaxation during an interview with Lester Holt. I have to go with that.

I'm not saying it never happens or will never happen
It might. But it has to be stunningly rare
And that is part of the reason why CDC changed its guidance today
Hmmm. How did 8 vaccinated Yankees manage to get COVID? One previously had COVID just 6 months ago. If I were unvaccinated (as my kids are) I would still take precautions where the virus is still prevalent.B.A. Bearacus said:I am not aware of any fully vaccinated person asymptomatically infecting another person

Several teams got the J and I vaccine but the Yankees are the only one with an outbreak. In Gleyber Torres’ case he had Covid in December and also got the J and J vaccine — yet he is Covid positive. Fortunately, among 8 positive Yankees people only 1 (Nevin) had symptoms.
