They ran an ad for the movie The Cocaine Bear before the Super Bowl. Ray Liotta died a week after wrapping his work on it.

He did not look well.

Sorry, can't play now.
I've turned on a The Who Spotify playlist and Going Mobile is still playing. Good way to start the day!

It's a burn pile day. Forest management.

I saw The Nutty Professor at the UC theater when I was 8 or 9 years old. At that age, the girl was just a distraction - I was there to see Jerry Lewis. Stella Stevens was almost the same age as Raquel Welch but for some reason, I equate her more with the early 60s and Raquel's arc of fame seemed to stretch through the entire 1970s.

In August of 1981, he and Renaldo "Skeets" Nehemiah were in the same race.
"Skeets" was the first man to go under 13.0 and Foster ran a personal best of 13.03

I had just completed my Junior year in high school and if you ran 16.00 that was a pretty good time.
My best that year was 15.7

The hurdles were of course 3" lower.
39" vs 42"

Referencing the earlier Burt Bachrach part of this thread, Herb Alpert and his wife, Lani Hall (co-lead singer from Brasil 66) are still performing! I saw them a few years back in Folsom and, while I'm in my 60s, I was one of the younger members of the audience. What a couple of professionals! They played with a very small combo. Herb doesn't wail on the trumpet, but he never did. Very cool and precise. Chris Botti plays a similar style today.

My cousin's claim to fame is that he was attending Arizona St. on a golf scholarship when TNP was being filmed there and that he is one of the students walking across the opening scene of the film when JL is walking through the campus.

Jim Messina was very talented and he was in two A+ bands: Buffalo Springfield and Poco. How in God's green acre did he end up partnering up with a bubble gum elevator music twit like Kenny Loggins?

In the So-Many-People-Have-a-Wayne-Shorter-Story category...

I went to Zellerbach last night to see the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. At one point, they described how New Orleans parade/Dixieland bands did funerals (mournful, then celebratory after the burial) and said they were going to simulate one in honor of Wayne Shorter (most people hadn't heard and were like "What?!?"). So they did and it was great. Then, I come home and read his name on this thread.

"Miles Davis, in his autobiography, called Mr. Shorter "the conceptualizer of a whole lot of musical ideas we did." Once he joined, Mr. Shorter contributed new compositions to every studio album made by the Miles Davis Quintet, beginning with the title track of "E.S.P." in 1965."

I saw PHJB in Naw'lins in 2017. I took this photo of the stage before the musicians assembled. If you can, check that out some day. It is worth it.

He was a throwback to old Hollywood macho actors. His best role was Sgt. Mike in SPR.
My 2nd favorite of his roles was in Heat.

I thought his short lived TV series Robbery Homicide Division (TV Series 2002-2003) was very good but it cratered because of his drug use and domestic violence. He was a major dope fiend that abused heroin, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine.

He was a working actor who churned out 226 TV/movie performances, mostly B movie work.

I forgot he had a small role in one of my favorite movies, Point Break:

I appreciated his work. Too bad addiction derailed him.
