And how many people has Putin killed by invading Ukraine?

You pretend to be concerned about people being killed in other countries when you think it helps you score political points.

But those people being killed in Ukraine by Putin's army? They had it coming to them because of - uh - Nazis. And the Russian language.

Yup.

There would never have been a war in Ukraine if it weren't for scumbags like this, who run Dubyas foreign policy, or the other ones who planned the destruction of Libya, Honduras etc under Obama/Hilary.

Read a book sometime instead of relying on crappy MSM gaslighting.

Yes, but have you considered that everything bad in the world is America's fault? Think about it.

Seems like extremist from both sides just tend to hate everything American.

We are always compared against a standard of perfection while every bad actors are judged from the lowest denominator.

Relatively, we are still a force for good in this world.

Putting things in perspective:

Civilian body count from the Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Libya wars:
about 5,000,000

Civilians killed in Ukraine war:
20,000

If you're truly concerned about killers of innocent people, you should hate Bush, Obama and Clinton 250 times more than Putin.

I'm afraid that none of the books that I've read have told me how GREAT Vladimir Putin is.
But it sounds like you have come across many.

It's definitely a "horseshoe theory" thing at the moment: people on the far left and far right are united under a vague "America Bad" ideology in foreign policy. Of course, as we have seen the position doesn't hold up under the slightest scrutiny.

America does bad things sometimes. There are also other powerful countries that can do bad things without any other prompting. Like Russia in Ukraine.

Definitely not in the middle east, or Latin America, to pick a couple of regions.

After China brokered a peace deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia earlier this year, ushering the end of the Syria and Yemen wars, US officials flew into a fit, and Burns flew to Saudi to break that up...

How did we start the war in Syria?

I think we all agree Iraq was a huge mistake that destabilized further an always unstable Middle East, but most of those death were not created by U.S. They were different sect of Muslims engaging in internal war.

And just so you know, we were attacked in 9/11. Afghanistan entry was wholly justified, much more so than Russia being angry Ukraine like us better than them.

We've (NATO, the Brits had a big role) funded, armed and trained the moderate headchopper rebels in Syria, with the goal of regime change and the breakup/balkanization of that country, all the way back to 2009, 2 years before the start of the war in Syria.

Operation Timber Sycamore.

We supported the Kurds who were being destroyed by the Syrian government. What was Russia's role in Syria? Strange you are so quiet on the mass murder enabled by Russia.

What would be your recommendation on Afghanistan after 9/11? Ask Russia to go back and protect us even if we were to become annexed by Russia?

Why are we supporting "The Kurds"? Did anyone in the US know what a Kurd was prior to us going to Iraq the first time? No. Kurds are just a different sect of islam. So why are the USA's military stepping in between violent conflict between islamic sects? Seems like a CIA mission to keep the region destabilized. Why aren't we helping the Uiyghurs? Give it time, we'll find a way to make them useful too when we want to f with Turkey, not China. The security state in our country is running wild globally, and we're just like "Meh". Because the Kurds are the only ones who were fighting ISIS and helping us target those who were targeting us? I don't understand why the extremes on both sides want us to be isolationists and bend over for anyone who wants to bully us. We are freaking USA. Yes, we want influence around the world since if we put up walls and isolated ourselves from every other country, we would just be a third world country.

Just so sick and tired of far left and far right hating on the intelligence community and law enforcement (together with the military) that help us sleep at night and allow these extremist to communicate their nonsense without fear of being jailed or executed.

They enjoy all of the benefits and then curse those who make it possible.

Syria and Iran are not Saudi Arabia, and having military base in Saudi Arabia does not mean we were fighting ISIS with our own soldiers on the ground. You must know this, right? Yes, Kurds were being oppressed and killed by Syria, as empowered, supported and armed by Russia just like the average Syrian citizen was. But you focus on "our" war in Syria when it was the Russians who stepped in to support a regime that was engaging in genocide in Syria.

You are incredible in your willingness to convict USA for something that really was perpetuated by Russia. Tell me, what is your view on Russia's role in Syrian war?

Russia came to Syria a year after the USA was there because we tried to have the Syrian president removed via the SDF, Syrian President was an ally to Putin.

I'll never forget when the CIA and British intelligence made an agreement to spy on each others countries to get around those pesky "No spying on our own citizens" laws. How anybody is defending our CIA/FBI right now is crazy to me, they're above the law now.
Because the Kurds are the only ones who were fighting ISIS
We were fighting ISIS.
With drones. We needed boots on the ground because we didn't want to risk our lives. The Kurds, including their women, stepped up.

Isolationism, like communism and socialism, have proven to be a failure over and over again in history. Baffling why they keep being promoted as if maybe this time it will be different and we will prosper.
whut the heck are you talking about dude? Go see how many bases the USA operates in the middle east right now.
Tell me, how many bases were in Syria fighting ISIS? You do realize there are more than one country in the Middle East and having base in Saudi Arabia does not mean we were fighting ISIS in Syria. Syria and Iran are not Saudi Arabia, and having military base in Saudi Arabia does not mean we were fighting ISIS with our own soldiers on the ground. You must know this, right? Having bases in Eastern Europe does not mean we are fighting Russia with our own soldiers in Ukraine, another countries in Eastern Europe.

I have no idea what your point is. Are you saying we fought ISIS in Syria with our own soldiers? Is that your point?
I don't know, why don't you look how many oil fields were located on the western side of the euphrates and you'll know how many US bases were there to protect them.

I don't care that the kurds were our "partners". They needed our help, not the reverse. In fact, we could have just left and let Syria and Turkey fight over it.
You really need to get better information. We needed Kurds to take on ISIS because we did not want to lose soldiers in the Middle East. I don't care whether you care about the Kurds. What you care about doesn't inform me on my views on whether Syrian war was our war. You and your tribe can promote isolationism and for us to be the next North Korea. It will never come to play and your tribe together with the likes of Bernie Sanders and the far left will always be angry that we live in a global economy and are impacted by geopolitical events. You can be angry with our foreign policies. You and I will never see eye to eye on your views on the need to isolate from every other country. I was stating why Syria was not "our war," why our role was to fight ISIS and support the Kurds who were our partners in the fight, and the people who died by the oppression perpetuated by Syria and Russia were not on our conscience.

The Kurds are the equivalent of the Hmongs and mountain people in the Vietnam war, local minorities that allied with the foreign occupier, and got slaughtered en masse after we left.

See also the Uyghers in China, Rohingyas in Burma. There's always an oppressed minority that needs to be saved, justifying wars and invasions.

US had soldiers in Syria to overthrow al-Assad? What the hell are you talking about. When did we move militarily against Syrian government?

I doubt Sanders would become an isolationist either. He has far left views (for an American politician), but when push comes to shove he is a pragmatist. He favors American help to Ukraine, for example.

I think Bernie Sanders is closer to Trump on isolationism than he is to Biden.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/02/bernie-sanders-doctrine-america-military-foreign-policy/606364/

This is despite the fact that he has become less of an isolationist than he was in the 80s when he wanted to limit our immigration, thought we needed to protect American workers and unions from cheaper labor from immigrants, and wanted high tariffs to protect manufacturing in the US all the while limiting our involvement or financial assistant to other countries, including Israel.

Two dim bulbs.

He is the outsider who attempted to cut spending, cut tens of thousands of lobbyist-funded regulations, demanded European NATO countries cough up more Billions, engaged in no new wars, brought troops home, and changed some trade policies to America First.

The Swamp hated Dr. Ben Carson.

The Swamp hated Ross Perot.

The Swamp hated the Tea Party and Bernie Sanders.

The Swamp hates Trump.

The Swamp doesn't hate Bush Jr (multiple wars), Obama (ditto), the corrupt Biden family, etc.

Swamp creatures

Politicians with opposing agendas can be gracious. In fact, the people running our country should be more gracious.

These gracious politicians have graciously killed millions of people in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria etc.

Bush Jr. and Hillary are dim.

Other than the tariffs that sounds like great policy.

The U.S. needs energy independence, green energy, and an exit from the middle east. Biden actually got us out of Afghanistan (knowing he would be attacked by the right in doing so) which is a huge win for the U.S.
Cal88
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The main reason the Biden administration got out of Afghanistan was because they wanted to allocate military resources towards war with Russia and China.

Being in the middle east is not just about domestic oil demand, we are there because all the other leading world powers, China, India, Japan, Germany etc, depend on mideastern oil. Control over the middle east gives us power over all these countries.

US oil production is now peaking, and will start to decline next decade, however Canada, with the 3rd largest oil reserves in the world, can all by itself more than meet future US & Canadian oil demand, for decades, until there is a new viable substitute.

As well, the current "green energy" options are neither viable nor are they scalable, as it takes at least as much energy to mine and produce batteries or set up windmills as these items save in fossil fuel usage, as well there aren't enough critical inputs like cobalt, nickel or copper to replace the entire fleet of gas-powered vehicles. Not to mention rare earths, and the fact that batteries and solar panels are highly toxic and potentially far more damaging to the environment than the use of oil and gas.

Why am I not surprised that you are in favor of fossil fuels and opposed to green energy?
