Shocker.

U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that Trump overstepped his authority in imposing punitive tariffs on virtually every country in the world.

But analysts said broad uncertainty remained regarding the future of Trump's tariffs, which have cost companies more than $34 billion in lost sales and high costs, according to a Reuters analysis.

Meanwhile, a second U.S. court issued a preliminary ruling against the tariffs on Thursday, temporarily blocking them from going into effect in a case brought by educational toy maker Learning Resources.

I guess you cant claim that toys being made in other countries is a threat to national security.

Trump officials downplay court ruling that blocked sweeping tariffs

Hey genius:

Federal Appeals Court temporarily reinstates Trump Tariffs after lower court blocked them yesterday.

Here's an article explaining the 3 judges.

https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/court-international-trade-federal-trump-tariffs/

Now to find who's behind the appeal decision.

The path this goes to, according to the way you think to operate, is…

Biggest stick wins.

And I suppose for you, if you are on the side of the bigger stick, you're good with that.
You certainly don't appear to stand for anything of substance.

…. I just saw this commercial. It struck me as the dumbest flocking commercial I've ever seen!
Yet, there it is. And professionals who have studied what works, what speaks to the American mind, have approved it.

I have to assume they're onto what I've discovered while talking with the likes of you here on these pages.

If tariffs are so bad, why does everybody else have them, and some quite stiff?

Hey Genius . . .

How come Trump has imposed a 61% tariff on SWITZERLAND when SWITZERLAND has no tariffs on U.S. exports?

They don't? Outside of Peggy Noonan, where else do you get your fake news from?

The U.S. Court of International Trade blocks Trump's Liberation Day Tariffs as exceeding his presidential authority.

It takes time, but once again, Trump's been proven to have a poor grasp on what is legal and what he is or isn't allowed to do. He wasn't elected Emperor, he was elected President with all the restrictions that come with the job under the Constitution. Hopefully other legal cases again the Trump administration will get resolved soon. I'm confident as to which side has the weaker legal claims.

You left out the phrase "temporarily pending further written arguments and judicial review". Nothing final has been decided.

His latest speech before the Nippon/US steel folks was awesome where he was reviewing the "process" to double the tariff from 25 to 50 percent and not 40 because he asked the leaders of the newly formed "venture" before the event. What are we doing here? Good news as he says the "guys will all get $5k and the giant guys with big arms won't be making chips"
The speech was an abomination

We retain US Steel plus a sizeable investment. Great.

I was listening to the stats on China's commercial and military ship building which clobbers us. The saving grace seems to be these may be relics of past conflicts. Colonel MacGregor says: "There are now two kinds of ships: submarines and targets." [Read: drones.]

Trump Tariffs Face Threat at Supreme Court Over Rulings That Blocked Biden

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-05-31/supreme-court-rulings-against-biden-now-threaten-trump-tariffs

"During Biden's presidency, the court's conservative majority ruled that federal agencies can't decide sweeping political and economic matters without clear congressional authorization. That blocked the Environmental Protection Agency from setting deep limits on power-plant pollution and the Education Department from slashing student loans for 40 million people.

The concept known as the "major questions doctrine" is now playing a central role in the case against Trump's unilateral imposition of worldwide import taxes. With Supreme Court review all but inevitable, the justices' willingness to employ the doctrine against Trump may determine the fate of his signature economic initiative."

…… So far, the major questions doctrine has divided the Supreme Court cleanly along ideological lines. The six conservative justices were united when the court first used the phrase in a 2022 ruling that said the EPA overstepped its authority with an ambitious emissions-reduction program during Barack Obama's presidency. The majority said it was doing nothing new by subjecting the plan to extra-tough scrutiny."

*I have no doubt that the Conservative majority will have no trouble at all speaking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time: "2 + 2 = 4 for Joe Biden but for Trump it equals 5."

it behooves many of these retailers to be "mums the word" on tarrifs or details of price increases for fear of suffering the wrath of almighty Kahn as Walmart did.

You'll be even more disappointed when Chump's tariffs eventually go before SCOTUS and they apply the "major questions doctrine" where a President is not able to unilaterally levy import duties to address conditions that he characterizes as a US "emergency."

You know . . . like how buying TOYS from CHINA constitutes a "threat" to our National Security.
