Don't love these penalties and cards being delivered via VAR, though they were probably correct.

You get to pick your best guy to take it for a regular penalty. In a shootout it has to be multiple guys.

Totally against the spirit of the game, the last penalty call doesn't get called in a normal game without VAR 9 times out of 10. With a penalty already called against the home team, the makeup call was easier to make.

I was surprised last few days, found myself pulling for Mexico. Because we are hosting (Azteca Fire!) with them and they would bring fans to rest of games.
In the end, my emotions wanted England. I couldn't stand the idea of our concacaf rival advancing further than us, should we lose tomorrow.
England will be fun going forward.

Bellingham cleared ball off the line in front of Montes.
Gordon beat GK to ball. He's fast!
And at the end, Mexico was out of ideas. Very poor job of manufacturing chances the last 25 minutes!!!!!
I was like, if you (Mexico) are going to waste time kicking from wing to wing without putting crosses in, you deserve to lose.
Those outside wings on both sides were horrible!!!

Yup, a lot of crosses to nowhere in the dying minutes. Reminds me of how the USMNT often played offense before this tournament.
Though we'll see what happens vs. Belgium.

I looked for better angles either still or video. This pic might be the best.
I think if Gordon doesn't get taken out he can get to the ball with the goalie picking himself up and scrambling back to stop a shot.
Gordon got ball first and went down because of GK hand. Penalty.
Sad that they didn't give better replay angles galore. But fair call.
As for the Kane penalty on American Brian Gutierrez, I thought that was stuoud at first but the replay convinced me, Brian was going to tap/settle the ball but it popped out of box off his foot because Kane kicked his foot.
Seemed like a fair call, too.
