Isn't Wikcox' one supposed strength - defense?

He lost to a 2-win program, and was torched in Q3 (no halftime adjustments?).

I listened to his post game presser, and it sure seems like he's blaming the players. He throws in the perfunctory "we need to coach better", but then he goes into a diatribe about 'how this is basic tackling' which they are failing to do. Which means Wilcox and coaches are ineffective coaches, ineffective motivators, or both.

The Berkeley Bears haven't exactly been scraping the bottom of the barrel for players, but with the two key injuries to a very thin defense, a foursome DC would have problems solving this riddle.

Perhaps it's fitting that the ghost of failure hangs over Cal on Halloween as Wilsux remains entrenched as the head football coach.

Wilcox finishes it out. If a change was going to be made, we would have already seen it. Especially today. There's no expectation of us win next week. This game was in reach. That drop by Dejesus was a backbreaker. So unless he gets sacked tomorrow, the only other benchmark is Stanford. And why dump him with one game to go after we play Furd?
