This was an old school Cal loss. Shame on us for believing things had changed. Hope they can figure something out during the off week. Losing happens but we gave this game to FSU in so many ways it makes you sick.

What a shame. Absolutely once in a decade opportunity to be 4-0 and likely host Game day against a top ten team. And we don't score a touchdown. That loss was on us. We should have won.

Exactly. It's just like our wins over Texas with Dykes. Those weren't great wins, they just looked good because of the name- but it's our BEST years barely competing with other team's worst years.

This is on the coaches.

When you have 7 sacks (i.e., unreliable QB protection), you have to:

a) sometimes move the pocket; and

b) get the ball out of the QB's hands quicker (faster developing routes and outlets).

Yeah I mean what the **** was that blocking scheme? This is us tho. Right when we think we're about to have a moment - we sh*t the bed.

My only other thought would be - in these contexts - would it have been better if we had Chandler in because he can actually run? I don't know. What a long flight back this must be.

My immediate reaction is:

The defense did its job.
The punting did their job.
Mendoza (with exception to not passing on the final play, did his job)
The running backs did their job.
The Oline completely self-destructed everytime they got near the 10 and cost us the game along with...
Field goal kicking cost us this game. Two should be kicks, missed.

Execution is the problem. Coaches play-calling is next.

2 very makable field goals
A ton of movement called on the OL

If the PLAYERS clean this up it is a different outcome. Coaches can prepare the players but it them who must execute.

That said, fire Wilcox.

I don't think this happens last year when he was oline coach full time

He is money rolling to the right as well. Play to his strengths.
