Well, I guess I'm not going to the Miami game. Save me some money and endless *********frustration.
We were always going to get crushed in that game to be honest. FSU being terrible was a big opportunity though.

Yes, but it's more about how it happened, which is the same way it always does. The fact that the loss looked likely prior to the season is not a consolation for me. We're never going to be better than a just-over-500 team under Wilcox. The fact that he hasn't been fired after 8 years of this is mind boggling.

Our hopes of getting ranked and gameday are pretty much dead but we're still in contention for the ACC if the conference continues to be as cannibalistic as its been thus far. Trying to play spoiler to a visiting Miami is much more our usual speed and the kind of win we eek out compared to a battle of undefeated ranked teams.

We'd be better off playing Miami right away.. Get that shellacking over with too.

Just brutal.
4 sacks in the 4th.

Not to mention how many false start penalties they racked up. They were straight up embarrassing.

This is the biggest reason we lost. OL could not hold it together at the most important time, not even for one drive.

It's so embarrassing when they show the coaches stats every game.. sub .500 record.. 8th season. You don't see that much.

The fact that we were in it to the very end despite some horrible playcalling does not bode well for FSU for the rest of the year.
Their offense blows. Defensive line is solid. Similar to Auburn.

This was an old school Cal loss. Shame on us for believing things had changed. Hope they can figure something out during the off week. Losing happens but we gave this game to FSU in so many ways it makes you sick.

ESPN said this team was tired of the "typiCal"

I guess they weren't that tired of it.

I don't think this happens last year when he was oline coach full time

You can't tell from what we saw whether the coach did their job or not. What you can see is if the player executed the play correctly or cleanly. Put a little more responsibility on the player. Perhaps they didn't do what the coach asked.

It's gonna be a decent season because we have a joke of a schedule after Miami. I won't underestimate Wilcox's ability to **** it up anyway- but it'll probably be his best year. We'll probably extend him.

He needed 16 yards and they brought 7 against 6 blockers. You shouldn't be in that position in the first place because then the defense gets to do that.

Yeah I mean what the **** was that blocking scheme? This is us tho. Right when we think we're about to have a moment - we sh*t the bed.

My only other thought would be - in these contexts - would it have been better if we had Chandler in because he can actually run? I don't know. What a long flight back this must be.

Fernando can run. There was no chance on that play with a guy coming unblocked.

My immediate reaction is:

The defense did its job.
The punting did their job.
Mendoza (with exception to not passing on the final play, did his job)
The running backs did their job.
The Oline completely self-destructed everytime they got near the 10 and cost us the game along with...
Field goal kicking cost us this game. Two should be kicks, missed.

Disagree. How did defense do its job against this shyte team? How many 3rd downs did they allow?

Before we bury our kicker - lest we forget that he was the only points scorer. And yes he missed two but - we can't score a touchdown against this lot? It's all on the coaches. We did not seem prepared. FSU approached this game as a pride game. We approached as just another game. This would have knocked FSU out for the season. We blew it.

Exactly, the blitz was coming, throw it up for grabs, anything but go down with it.

Call time out if you don't have the right response to a kitchen sink blitz set up, 2 TOs left and almost a minute to go.

Dline was horrible until this game. They had the stats to get paid, but didn't play.

For some reason, they came together this week. Its like some outside force came in and got them ready to play this week.

I'm sorry but that's BS. There were 4 false starts in the red zone.

If it's one false start, maybe that's execution. If it's 4, that's systemic and falls squarely on the oline coach.

This is the nature of Cal Football under Wilcox. We could go 3-9 or 11-1 for the rest of the season. Neither are the most probable outcome, but both are within the realm of possibility.

Honestly Ott has felt like a decoy the last 2 games.

I know they key on him but a) Jet runs hard and b) they don't key on him like Ott

I thought I was past this but if this season goes to **** I would look to see if we could steal Troy Taylor from Palo Alto, Furd was well disciplined against Syracuse and tonight penalties wiped out our chances in the redzone

I don't know why it's so difficult for people to understand this.

2nd and 5. We have the ability to run three times if we wanted.

2md and 10, Dline is pinning their ears back.

Those 5 yards changed everything. You simply cannot cannot cannot have a false start there.
