I have to say, if we lived in a world where there was total freedom to say and do whatever online, we'd end up with total chaos, anarchy, and polarization of society due to fragmentation of truths and purpose.
We'd end up with Donald Trump and MAGA.

Some of you guys think total freedom is the solution to everything. It's not. Studies have shown that homogeneous societies do better. Put that assertion into your ChatGPT for an explanation.

Studies have shown that free speech is the first thing you take away from the people when you want to control them. See totalitarianism in the 21st century, the most deadliest century compared to the previous centuries combined.

Quote:

Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the Pentagon Papers that detailed U.S. actions during the Vietnam war, died Friday at this home in Kensington, Calif. He was 92. The cause, his family said in a statement, was pancreatic cancer.

In March, Ellsberg posted on his Facebook page that doctors diagnosed him with inoperable pancreatic cancer on Feb. 17 following a CT scan and MRI.

In the statement, Ellsberg family said that in the months since the diagnosis, "he continued to speak out urgently to the media about nuclear dangers, especially the danger of nuclear war posed by the Ukraine war and Taiwan."

"Daniel was a seeker of truth and a patriotic truth-teller, an antiwar activist, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a dear friend to many, and an inspiration to countless more. He will be dearly missed by all of us," according to the statement.. .. ..

Damn.

I still remember encountering him when he was a struggling musician with a day job at Rather Ripped Records on Northside. Nice guy. He steered me to several good albums that I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise.

Good cover of Jonathan Richman song:

I remember when Greg was a DJ on K-Fox FM (1996-2012; and he had the best playlist) he once said that when Joe Satriani was the lead guitarist in the Greg Kihn Band, when they were on tour the rest of the band would be out boozing and using drugs while Joe always stayed back at the hotel practicing, which is why he was so much better than everybody else.

> Virginia Cathryn "Gena" Rowlands is an American film, stage, and television actress, whose career in the entertainment industry has spanned over six decades. A four-time Emmy and two-time Golden Globe winner, she is known for her collaborations with her late actor-director husband John Cassavetes in 10 films, including A Woman Under the Influence (1974) and Gloria (1980), which earned her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for Opening Night (1977). In November 2015, Rowlands received an Honorary Academy Award in recognition of her unique screen performances.

> Some people just know her from The Notebook (where she is excellent, by the way), but Gena Rowlands had decades and decades of great work before her death in August 2024. Few actresses were being bolder and more innovative in the 1970s, and few were earning the kind of acclaim she was. Now, following the news of her death at 94, many want to learn more about Gena.. ...

I saw Greg Kihn once. Sigma Nu frat on Bancroft in 1977, my first year at Hastings. Two years earlier I handed Eddie Money a check for $500 for playing a party at my frat (equivalent to $3000 today).

I may have seen Greg play one of those free concerts they had every Friday during the noon hour at Lower Sproul during Spring Quarter. The other bands I saw there were Little Roger and the Goosebumps and Earthquake.

When you murder someone, you intentionally want them dead.

Think about it: When you're an assistant, your job is to satisfy your boss. If your boss is not satisfied then you're out of a job. If you leave because you didn't orders, then you lose a reference, which means it'll be hard to get another celebrity assistant job...Matthew Perry wanted a lot of ketamine. His assistant got it for him. I doubt he wanted to see his employer dead because then it would be a sh*tshow, as it has become.

I think you might have highlighted his birth name: LaCock.

I didn't recognize "Peter Marshall". If he had stuck with "La Cock" he'd be way more famous!!

From Wikipedia:
Ralph Pierre LaCock (March 30, 1926 August 15, 2024), better known by his stage name Peter Marshall, was an American game show host, television and radio personality, singer, and actor. He was the original host of The Hollywood Squares from 1966 to 1981 and had almost fifty television, movie, and Broadway credits.

Marshall was given his stage name by John Robert Powers. Powers had chosen the last name Marshall for Peter's sister (who later chose to use Joanne Dru instead), and Peter adopted it early in his career and paired it with an anglicized version of his middle name.

They once said that about Dick Van Dyke.*

*Birth name P@enis Van Lesbian

Peter Marshall's son:

* "In 1975, during Gibson's final game, LaCock hit a grand slam home run, becoming the last hitter to get a base hit off Gibson.[4] Gibson retired soon afterwards. Years later, Gibson faced LaCock in an Old-Timers' Day, and he allegedly beaned him in retaliation and shouted out, "I've been waiting years to do that!"

He doesn't come off as a Senate lifer proudly serving the people of his state, that's for damn sure!!
