According to Reuters, food inflation in the U.K. is now 17.1% The primary driver of the skyrocketing food costs is the energy cost associated with the fast turnover categories.

Good old green energy policies.

The Fed Funds futures market is now reflecting a terminal Fed Funds rate of 5.475% in October.

Ever since the super robust January employment number in early February, the market has shifted from a terminal rate of 5.1% to 5.4%

The market has essentially shifted to reflect "higher rates for longer".

And those market participants who were expecting an actual rate cut by end of year have disappeared.

Trying to hold at or near inflation level with 2 year Treasuries, short term Covered Calls on dividend stocks, MMF, cash rich large caps (COWZ), and some hedge funds. Sounds from what you say, and what I hear I may be circling waiting to reposition early into the next run up.

News out that inflation is hitting customers hard with beer sales. Where does one go?

My favorite craft beer from Sonoma (Henhouse IPA) has increased 33% over the last 2 years.
From $10.49 for a 4-pack to $13.99

They were having transport issues with their truck drivers not showing up, so they handed-off distribution to Markstein.
Markstein is a joke. They dont even use refrigerated trucks.

Saw police dealing with the overflow traffic from local restaurants tonight. Restaurants can charge whatever they want and people keep going. Has to be a top.

Am in downtown Walnut Creek tonight in 45 degree weather and restaurants on Locust Street are PACKED. I was lucky to find a parking space on the top floor of one of 4 parking garages!

Not much new news from February CPI report. Lagging shelter data continues to prop up the numbers. I have one rental unit that has had tenant turnover that reflects national numbers well.
My rent increases:
Late 2021: 12.5%
Late 2022: 7.4%
2023: 3.4%
All in that is a 25% increase and I am receiving multiple applications.

All this from the guy that has an MBA, CFA, and Series 7 and said that inflation had peaked in March of 2022 and that "the Fed was putting out bogus inflation projections to justify pushing rates higher in 2023."

Mindboggling how ignorant some can be.
Sad really.

You argue in bad faith. You repeatedly misrepresent me. You're going on ignore after March 22nd. If you're still here.

You're just like Bearforce..... never discussing anything in good faith and repeatedly answering a question with a question.

Your opinion does nothing but parrot Robert Reich, who has been wrong for like forever.
And it's clear that you have no money invested in the market..
That much is clear.

The goal of the Fed is to crush the job market at the low end. Bailouts are available for everybody else.

1. Real hourly wages are positive for the lowest third
2. You are exaggerating about food inflation
3. You are lying about illegal immigration (actually, you are probably ignorant about what the data means)
4. Energy prices are about 15% higher than they were about 4-5 years ago. That's an increase of less than 4% / year.

What do you mean by "historic levels"? That's an undefined term that could mean almost anything. Every statistic from the past is a historic level.

2. You don't understand the data you are presenting.

4. You switched from energy to electricity. We both made correct statements.

I see this over and over again for items I buy. Not a 10% markup - try 50%.

Serious question that ML won't answer: Given that blue-check Trollstoy88 is obviously a Kremlin twitter account - what are you hoping to do here? Do you think people here are unaware that the Kremlin would like to face less resistance in its unjust invasion of Ukraine?

Would you post a tweet or statement from Putin himself saying that the UK should stop supporting Ukraine? Do you really think it's more persuasive when it's obvious Kremlin propaganda pretending to be independent? Are you the last person who hasn't figured out that you are subscribing to Kremlin propaganda?

Have you wondered how this downward spiral into radicalized unpaid Russian asset happened?

Yeah! Someone should make all those woke steel companies stop making steel in other countries because rampant GOP deregulation and favorable federal corporate tax rules make it possible for them to pay pennies on the dollar relative to wages paid in the US.

I agree that U S. policy should incentivise domestic production in any industry with national security implications, and I'd interpret that broadly.
