Come on, let's stop talking past each other. We both know that there are people who want to control everything. And they today are the MAGA type. I was ripping on the Magas. Go back and read my comment. Am I still misunderstood?

You really need to stop obsessing over the guy to the point where you involve him in every single post, even about the Federal Reserve and Monetary Policy.

He's done.

Very well said.

The people pretending to be "victims" because they believe that they've been wronged is pathetic.
My younger brother once got fairly emotional over being "attacked" as a white guy.
He literally felt as though the main stream media was out to get him.

I had to put my foot down and ask him who would do "better" during a traffic stop in Walnut Creek.
Him, or a young black kid wearing a hoodie?

Yeah, it's really tough being a white guy these days.

Why?

Because anyone on board a commercial jetliner will fight the hijackers to their death.

Exactly, combine that with the fact that people are detached from reality, and you have the current state of affairs. Here's a great article about the detachment from a few years ago. Reading it now, well, brings up a lot of head-nodding.

Quote:

When did America become untethered from reality?I first noticed our national lurch toward fantasy in 2004, after President George W. Bush's political mastermind, Karl Rove, came up with the remarkable phrase reality-based community. People in "the reality-based community," he told a reporter, "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality … That's not the way the world really works anymore." A year later, The Colbert Report went on the air. In the first few minutes of the first episode, Stephen Colbert, playing his right-wing-populist commentator character, performed a feature called "The Word." His first selection: truthiness. "Now, I'm sure some of the 'word police,' the 'wordinistas' over at Webster's, are gonna say, 'Hey, that's not a word!' Well, anybody who knows me knows that I'm no fan of dictionaries or reference books. They're elitist. Constantly telling us what is or isn't true. Or what did or didn't happen. Who's Britannica to tell me the Panama Canal was finished in 1914? If I wanna say it happened in 1941, that's my right. I don't trust booksthey're all fact, no heart … Face it, folks, we are a divided nation … divided between those who think with their head and those who know with their heart … Because that's where the truth comes from, ladies and gentlementhe gut."
There is a lot of good stuff in the article, but this made me LOL today. The GOP tried to make the dude in bold below a freaking senator - and he's not even the least qualified senator they nomninated.
Quote:

The word mainstream has recently become a pejorative, shorthand for bias, lies, oppression by the elites. Yet the institutions and forces that once kept us from indulging the flagrantly untrue or absurdmedia, academia, government, corporate America, professional associations, respectable opinion in the aggregatehave enabled and encouraged every species of fantasy over the past few decades.

A senior physician at one of America's most prestigious university hospitals promotes "miracle cures" on his daily TV show. Cable channels air documentaries treating mermaids, monsters, ghosts, and angels as real. When a political-science professor attacks the idea "that there is some 'public' that shares a notion of reality, a concept of reason, and a set of criteria by which claims to reason and rationality are judged," colleagues just nod and grant tenure. The old fringes have been folded into the new center. The irrational has become respectable and often unstoppable.

There were several large-scale looting events in Walnut Creek recently, many looters African American, and they left town unmolested.

That would be nice if you're right.
But then why are they going after election positions in the states?

You know, the same faction that has invented all this nonsense is only going to be pushed up against the wall further in the decades ahead:
Whites becoming less of a majority.
American preeminence declining.
They are going to try harder in new ways.
It won't be Jan 6.

We'll see. I imagine America has been through a lot and can go through more.

If cops are so racist towards our dark-skinned citizens, why are there rarely problems with Ethiopian- and Nigerian-Americans? Korean-Americans? East Indians?

There was a famous study, I think in New Jersey, regarding police pulling over those "Driving While Black". It was something like African Americans were 15% of the population, but 25% of the police stops. Ergo, "DWB" racism.

Some researchers decided to study the issue. They found out that police pulled over motorists in exactly the same proportion to their speeding prevalence. Researchers put up high speed cameras, and logged vehicle speed and the ethnicity of the driver. Further, they found a much higher percentage of those committing excess speed (100 MPH or more) were African American. The George Bush Jr. administration tried to bury the research.

Miles Hall could have easily been tazed or tackled.
Miles Hall was suffering from schizophrenia.
WCPD was aware of his condition.

The City of Walnut Creek had to fork over $4 MILLION DOLLARS in taxpayer money to the Family of Miles Hall for the fact that their officers were poorly trained, including a female rookie officer who was one of the first to shoot her weapon who had only been on the police force for 1 year.

But I guess you're one of those "good" Christians who has no problem killing the mentally ill.

Notice you didn't answer my very specific question. How does a 140 pound woman with 1 year of experience 'easily' tackle a young man with such a dangerous weapon? Hey genius... there were two women and a minority male officer on the scene, I guess affirmative action backfired? (More black male officers help.)

The looting and bedlam was pure opportunism and social media coordination. The hoodlums hit anywhere with value and easy access. Looting happened in hundreds of cities, and it's why businesses flee places like Oakland.

A garden "trowel" is such a dangerous weapon???

Just stop.
You're embarrassing yourself.
You have no idea what you're talking about.

There were a TOTAL OF 5 OFFICERS on SCENE.
Only two used their weapons. The one's who were not trained in mental health issues.
One was a female rookie on the force for only one year.

I've watched motorcycle cops in their helmet and body armor subdue violent pit-bulls for crying out loud.

You're delusional. A 5' steel pry bar isn't a garden trowel. Prima facia facts:

1. The police narrator says he has a long metal pole.
2-3. The family member who called it in TWICE said it was a pole and metal pole.
4. They show a picture of the metal pole - 15 pounds, 4' 11" feet long PRY BAR.
5. Officers first shot 4 bean bag rounds which didn't stop him.

A very sad story. Were both shooters female?

You still havent answered my question.
You continue to deflect just like you do in every other thread in this forum.

The DA's investigation said that Sergeant Connors conducted an in-field briefing with Officers Smith, Murphy, and Hsiao to develop a plan of action. Officer Smith had a less "lethal/bean bag shotgun role" whereas the (female) rookie Officer Murphy (who shot Miles Davis with her hand-gun) was assigned a "less lethal/Taser/arrest" role.

Ok genius....

Why did Officer Melissa Murphy wind up shooting Miles Hall instead of her assigned less lethal role that involved using her Taser?

Why were there no Tasers used at all at this incident?

Why did WCPD escalate from use of Bean Bags to Lethal Weapons?

AntiochWags asks: "Why did Officer Melissa Murphy wind up shooting Miles Hall instead of her assigned less lethal role that involved using her Taser?"

Liberal Female Privilege?

Affirmative action? What were her scores on written and physical tests?

It's a tragic scenario for all involved. I will ask a friend who is a LEO his take. He has heavy training all year long with various weapons. He's been an officer for decades and never fired his weapon. He's also twice the size of these female officers.

You obviously cant answer my simple questions about the escalation of force.

Reason being, you know very little about the case and havent even bothered to read the DA's investigation and why Officer Murphy and Smith stated that they escalated their use of force.

Looking at the pictures, I put him near 170. I can't believe someone would be ignorant enough to say

"The kid was maybe 150 lbs max dripping wet."

and post a picture from five years earlier, when he was graduating high school. Regardless of the actual threat he posed which you either purposely or ignorantly lie about, the cops need to do better. It is a tragedy. I am not sure what this has to do with inflation or how cops would perceive a black businessman vs a white guy in a hoodie.
