It's funny how you guys talk about Mitch McConnell as though normie Dems are fans of his. No, they f***ing hate him.Zippergate said:

"Normie" in the sense of average, middle-of-the-road, etc. They hate Mitch.Zippergate said:
Mitch is a RINO sellout, thoroughly uniparty. Like Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney, the kind of "Republican" Dems love. What exactly is a normie Democrat?
He may be a RINO sellout, but he's never been a friend to Democrats. I'll be celebrating when he leaves office. Just like you.Zippergate said:

Taco Tuesday. Margaritas. The two women next to me at the bar said they had a tough day at work, I asked why? They were federal government workers, middle aged, brunettes, bearister's type. A bunch of people left their group or were laid off and they're only allowed to hire one new worker for every four who leave. So, they're swamped. They still have to send a weekly email that summarizes what they did in 5 bullet points. I told them no one is going to read their emails but they already knew that. I asked them if they wanted to go outside and burn some Teslas. They laughed and we ordered more margaritas....

Smooth.
Have a look at what the US exports to China and try to explain that using classical economics. When you enjoy the "exorbitant privilege" of having the world's reserve currency, you can get away with not actually making things...for a while. But the era of cheap imported manufactured goods is coming to an end and it has very little to with Trump or even Biden for that matter; it's about decades of "free trade."Eastern Oregon Bear said:Even bear2034 recommends service jobs over the millions and millions of manufacturing jobs Trump is promising to bring back to America.sycasey said:bear2034 said:

NEW: Elon famously demanded 5 bullet point emails, saying it was management 101 and govt. officials could very well be dead.

Four weeks later, the program is a bust. A number of officials are getting bounce backs cuz the inbox is full. Others have stopped sending entirely… pic.twitter.com/QzSRbcSxQN
Fortunately (or unfortunately), my agency told us not to send our 5 bullet emails to OPM, just to our local supervisor who will archive them. My supervisor knows what I've done each week, but I'm still doing my best on it. I'm having NO trouble coming up with 5 items. Usually I leave a couple out.sycasey said:NEW: Elon famously demanded 5 bullet point emails, saying it was management 101 and govt. officials could very well be dead.

This is really bad. If the facts bear it out, he should resign. I think Lutnick should go as well. But why do you keep changing the topic? Are we just here for drive-by insults?
There are countless problems—many of them very important, like the ongoing judicial insurrection. But when you cut to the chase, what DOGE is doing is, without question, the most important of all. This should be running on loop everywhere, all the time.pic.twitter.com/PohbLi9nUH

Looking thru DOGE website I was looking at Agency spending...why did the dept of treasury spending go up so drastically between 2019 to 2024?
Department of the Treasury#15
$689.5B in FY 2019
$1311.9B in FY 2024

This is always how it goes. A lot of big conservative promises about controlling the budget and then they don't.bearister said:

"DOGE has made it increasingly challenging to fact check its assertions after it removed federal identification numbers in its website's source code that could help outsiders identify specifically what grants and contracts the agency is referring to.
That makes it difficult and sometimes impossible to know the vendors the government has contracted with and whether the government is actually saving the amount of money DOGE is claiming it has.
Meanwhile, there are claims on the website that are incorrect. The largest savings asserted by DOGE is a cancelled $1.9 trillion contract for IT modernization. But the contractor awarded the money told the New York Times last month that the award was actually cancelled in November 2024, under President Biden."
