Look, Elon Musk is a really, really successful guy. He's done amazing things with Tesla and Space-X, but those companies' successes came out of situations where they both faced absolute do or die moments. While large, he could roll the dice with such ventures and if everything went to hell, the fallout would be relatively well contained. If Space-X's fourth launch failed, that would have been it for the company. Curtains. Adios. Another company would have taken its place, eventually. He pushed insanely hard at Tesla because he believes in alternative sources of energy. He really does believe in transitioning to ultimately renewable energy and felt Tesla's success was an inflection point for it. You know what? It was. He's perhaps the biggest supporter of solar energy that there is.

If his strategy doesn't work here, he could seriously f&$k up our economy. What worked in the walled gardens of his companies very well might not work for the government. Maybe that's the point, though.

He could be such a force for good. Sadly, he doesn't seem to be. I hope he ultimately turns out to be.

Yes, he is a visionary, but there is something childish and primitive about him, says Peggy Noonan.

"He has wild confidenxe in his ability to engineer desired outcomes, but unstable elements have a way of exploding in the beaker, and like everyone else from Silicon Valley he lacks a sense of tragic. They think human life can be rationally shaped and perfected, that every problem just needs the right wrench, and in any case they all think they're God.

My fear, here we switch metaphors, is that Mr. Musk and his young staffers and acolytes are mad doctors who'll put 30 chemo ports in the sick body. They'll not only kill the cancer, they'll kill the patient."

Wow, Musk is an idiot who is working against Americans.

Literally written in the article you posted:

Quote:

Two Senate aides who work on intelligence matters confirmed that NRO's headcount and budget are classified, though they noted there have been debates within the intelligence community as to whether they should be.

So, we've replaced debates in the intelligence community to reach a consensus with Elon Musk's snap decision of "What the hell, let's do it!"

The problem is the Biden Admin hired people based on their devotion to the party instead of competency, the only way you clear those people out of there, is to clear those people out of there.

Textbook projectionism. No POTUS in history has put personal loyalty over competence in hiring like Trump and there is no close 2nd.

The Justice Department is an example: its ranks will be filled with prosecutors that are ideologues loyal to Trump that have no meaningful prosecutorial experience.

Recalled Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price had the same hiring qualifications Trump has imposed: ideologue loyalists….and Madame DA's hires were not competent to prosecute cases. Since they are members of the Teamsters Union, the only way to terminate them under the new DA will be to assign them trials and they will either refuse (and be fired or quit) or f@uck up the trial and get fired.

….then there is Pete Hegseth, Cash Patel, RFK Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard. Nowhere else but in Trumpland do their resumes support their hires.

He's a narcissist, a megalomaniac and an ideologue . Because of his money he s been given the unusual opportunity to reframe government- not from the top down like all administrations but from the bottom up.

What's interesting is that it also sets a precedent for future administration to clear house and replace with their own team. Very interesting experiment

It's shocking how ignorant people are.
I thought Minot was smarter than this.
Guess not.

Gas prices here in the Bay Area are +.70 - .80 cents since Feb. 1st.

That's also called NEWS.

In his first weeks, Clinton ordered a 100,000-job reduction in government.

Over eight years, he cut 380,000 federal jobs, a 16% decrease.

Mr. Works obviously hasn't ever researched old records and documents. Missing or illegible data is common. Not to mention errors due to automated document scanning, data entry errors decades ago or from migrating data through several generations of computer storage and differing computer languages.

Should they have been cleaning things up? Sure, but budgets rarely devote money for QCing data. Money is scarce and QCing data isn't sexy.

Do you think this makes it more likely than not that this is not the only mass firing where they stepped on their dicks and threw the baby out with the bath water?

Meanwhile outside the penny arcade Repubs are working to extend the current tax cut s at a cost of 4.5 trillion. Problem is they want to add new incentives- repeal SALT, don't tax tips, social security, overtime- costing another trillion or so
