This doesn't even do it justice. In terms of the size of the economy at the time, Reagan and Bush Sr were much worse than the chart appears. Much of Obama's debt was from being handed a Great Recession and 2 wars from Bush Sr. Obama cut the deficit in half from what he inherited.

What would the big Cheeto do about his deportation plan, there wouldn't be enough money to get all of those criminals out of the country? Also, how would DOGE justify their existence. I am all for reducing the deficit just as long as everybody including millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share. Let's get rid of those tax savings that the wealthy were given and let's make sure the IRS is staffed sufficiently to prevent wealthy tax cheats from getting away with not paying their fair share. Let's stop corporate welfare and tax breaks which take away valuable resources from the people whose cities make these insane deals that line the pockets of the ultra rich. Finally let's make sure that rural American has access to the internet, roads, hospitals, and opportunities that will lift them out of poverty. If we can do that based on pre-COVID spending then I am all in. What say you?

We can do both.

As long as the UniParty spends like drunken sailors on crack, we're cooked. When the next Progressive gets in, they'll bring back the No-Results Department of Education, PBS, and hundreds of thousands of government jobs. They're addicted to spending, Lobbyists track them 24 / 7.

DOGE has found $300 Billion in cuts, I hope they keep going. POTUS should apply some cuts to DOD, more to State, and elsewhere. They also need to retire more Generals, and their staff.

Maybe if we banned family members from working for NGOs that might help, along with a x-years period ex-Congress members are banned from becoming Lobbyists.

Reports indicate that the Federal government in another example of just how nonsensical some of the cuts that DOGE made, have now realized their mistake, and have given the okay to hire 450 people due to dangerous understaffing. The hiring is being made under an exemption to a broader hiring freeze. Apparently they realized that their response to recent weather events was lacking.

I hope the administration is honest enough to let the overall savings that DOGE is reporting reflect this screwup. Just kidding, there is no way they are honest enough to actually report the increase in cost to rehire or hire 450 people.

I am almost sure that the people who got canned and then rehired don't consider themselves or their economic well-being to be a "rounding error". Maybe DOGE or the administration could explain to the people affected by adverse weather events, the ones who lost property and loved ones, why cuts made were so deep as to create dangerous understaffing at the NSW which in turn affected their lives?

My friends in the NWS tell me that rehiring 450 people is more than half the people that were let go or retired, so it was a clearly botched process. It's not clear if those former employees will be rehired. They will have to apply and get accepted. They may just say "Screw this!" Also, USAJOB applications have been revamped and more complicated (including a few questions about loyalty) and it's going to be easy to mess up an application if you aren't careful. The funny thing is that many of the people let go are still being paid and will continue to collect their salaries through the end of September. There are many costs that will have to be covered with the new hires. Currently, as an incentive to get current employees to move to understaffed offices, they are paying moving expenses up to $100,000. Those transfers don't even count towards the 450 new hires. Many of the new hires will be new to the NWS and it will take a year or two to get through training and certification, so they will be of limited use until then.

What are you talking about. That statement tells me how disconnected from reality you are. FEMA and Trump's CECOT Barbie were responsible for the response in Texas and per conventional wisdom both failed miserably. FEMA because of the personnel reductions and Noem because she is inept and way over her head and demanded that she sign off on any expenditures over $100,000.00. People couldn't even get authorization to rescue people ie the Mexican rescue team that saved a sheriff's family lives and then were arrested. The sheriff later apologized. Stop getting your news from these conspiratorial YouTube channels they make you sound unhinged.

Your comments not based in reality, unhinged. It wasn't that long ago that during the aftermath of a flood FEMA went out to try to help the impacted population in a southern state and were met with guns, threats, and mistrust, because of the constant MAGA misinformation and conspiracies such as weather manipulation the people who needed the help the most refused and because of safety considerations FEMA withdrew. That's how dangerous that crap is.

Those stats are true because in covid so many low income earners lost their jobs the averages went up. It is important to know context when you are being lied to.

I've found that there are a handful of posters here (Trump supporters) that never are able to comprehend the tweets of data that they post. The inability to grasp any "context" confirms this.

Interestingly enough, we've seen a number of these kinds of posts from the same poster.

The same guy who just the other day, was touting how 82% of the S&P 500 thus far had beaten earnings estimates in Q2 - - - but who fails to be aware that those estimates had been repeatedly lowered earlier this year given tariff uncertainty and the risk of a recession given Q1 data.

The inability to even acknowledge any context tells me that this person never attended CAL.

That same guy just the other day mocked a post touting how 82% of the S&P 500 had beaten earnings estimates because it "failed" to mention that those estimates had been lowered earlier, yet he doesn't appear to comprehend that the market has hit record highs this year. That same guy shorted this same market at the beginning of the year and is horribly wrong on his predictions.

In that same spirit, please note that several Biden supporters, yourself included, have touted Biden's jobs recovery without acknowledging Covid closing the economy during Trump's first term, the same thing you complain about here.

As opposed to some of the keyboard "warriors" here, I can actually post my real-time positions.

All they do is claim to be in stocks like Tesla and watch it go "up and down".

The fact that they can just sit there and watch it go down $200 and up $200 without buying a single share is quite telling. And of course they bought it in the teens just like "everyone" else.

lol

And then when it comes time for a Tesla earnings announcement, they pound their chests about how the company just beat estimates and how the stock is trading higher, only to be PROVEN WRONG while relying on an absurd earnings "estimate" from a brokerage called Robinhood and the stock collapses the next day by 9%

lol

These are the kind of people in life who have it all figured out and "brag" about it. They're never wrong.
Just like the stooges that defend Donald Trump tooth and nail and are never critical of him.
Not even once.

But then again, there are always those keyboard "cheerleaders" out there that do nothing but TALK.
Such is the internet.

While they talk, I make money.
